What’s everyone’s thoughts on Hallie? It’s DH’s favourite name by far. Will be little sister to Isaac. Do they go together ok?

I love it. It was our girls name for dc3.

ratussbaguss · 30/07/2022 06:36

It's fine. The ie ending is a bit twee and I think it will get mispronounced: hah-lee or hay-lee? (The spelling suggests the former). But if you like it go for it

OldYork · 30/07/2022 06:39

pretty and cute combo

MissBattleaxe · 30/07/2022 06:51

Would you pronounce it Hah- lee or Hay-lee? I bet it would get mispronounced.

wingingit33 · 30/07/2022 07:15

I'd say ha (as in happy) lee

Booboo222 · 30/07/2022 07:29

It would be pronounced Ha-Lee to rhyme with alley. Not Hayley. I’ve never seen Hayley spelt like Hallie. Is it really that likely to be mispronounced?

I was going to say Eminem's daughter, didn't realise she was Hailie, always thought it was Hallie, pronounced Hayley.

Amdone123 · 30/07/2022 07:35

No, it's not pronounced Hayley, but pps mean some people may well pronounce it like that. My friend has an Esme and when her next arrived, another friend informed me that friend had had baby and she was called Hayley. I had my doubts - it was Hallie.
For me personally, I don't like it but I prefer more traditional names. If you and dh like it though, have it.

anotherscroller · 30/07/2022 07:36

I really like it and I’m normally one for the traditional names. Goes really well with Isaac.

Amdone123 · 30/07/2022 07:37

Halle ( as in Halle Berry), another spelling ?

Louise0701 · 30/07/2022 07:38

its lovely. My best friends dd is called Hallie and she’s now 4; she’s never mentioned any mispronunciations. It’s clearly Hallie and not Hayley.
I think it goes really well with Isaac too.

Ilikecheeseontoast · 30/07/2022 07:44

Hallie is lovely! Anyone who can read can see it’s not pronounced Hayley x

FT123456 · 30/07/2022 07:45

I really like it

Fivebeanchilli · 30/07/2022 07:47

It's ok. I don't love it but I think it's a sweet name that goes fine with Isaac.
Anyone who has been taught to read English will know that 2 LL together mean it can't be an ay pronunciation so I don't think you'll get many people saying Hayley.
You'll probably have more people misspelling Isaac as Issac as that seems to be an incredibly popular mistake!

AmberGer · 30/07/2022 07:47

Lovely name. I would spell it without the i, if it were me

Booboo222 · 30/07/2022 07:59

It really amazes me how many people write Issac instead of Isaac. More people seem spell it wrong rather than right, even in response to a message where I have clearly written Isaac!

I would spell it without the i personally.

Howard and Bernadette's daughter in the Big Bang Theory was named Halle (after the comet).

I'm also from Manchester so it makes me think of the orchestra and Sir Charles Hallé as well. I like it a lot.

ApplePippa · 30/07/2022 08:36

I like it. I think it goes really well with Isaac - Isaac Newton and Edmund Halley were contemporary with each other, so you can have a bit of a "great scientists" theme!

Amei · 30/07/2022 09:28

I know a little girl called Hallie, it doesn't get mispronounced and it suits her x

The comet is spelt Halley though

Comedycook · 30/07/2022 09:30

I don't think it goes well at all with Isaac to be honest. I dislike it immensely but it's a normal enough name which won't raise any eyebrows

ratussbaguss · 30/07/2022 09:32

Yes your pronunciation is correct but don't underestimate how stupid other people are

MySleevesMayBeGreen · 30/07/2022 09:35
