Hugo, Jules or Kit. Which name do you prefer? That's it really!

Kit has my vote

SammySueTwo · 29/07/2022 18:27

All rah and or hipster names. Kit is the best but it's popular.

User2145738790 · 29/07/2022 18:31

Kit and Jules don't seem like real names so Hugo is the best out of your choices.

hattie43 · 29/07/2022 19:51

Hugo

As soon as you say jules I think polo shirts ( joules )

Kit no , no one should be called a short version of kitten

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 29/07/2022 19:54

Why does Jules have to be short for anything? It's a full name in its own right. Lots of famous Juleses.

lbbean · 29/07/2022 21:12

MN always says Kit is popular but I’ve only met a couple. Loads more Hugos.

I actually really like all three but Jules gets my vote. It’s the most interesting and uncommon without being weird.

AlwaysLatte · 29/07/2022 21:18

I'm not keen on Kit since a lot of people will likely not pronounce the T. So Kih with a glottal stop doesn't sound very nice to me. Jules I'm not keen on either as they'll constantly be asked if girl or boy. I quite like Hugo, it was on our shortlist!

henryhoover3 · 29/07/2022 23:06

So you like Henry

kirby2000 · 29/07/2022 23:07

Hugo

FessedUp · 29/07/2022 23:13

Ooh, I like them all!

Kit and Jules are very literary... Marlowe and Verne! Neither need a long form.

Whereas Hugo is cuddly.

Overall favourite is Kit, though.

Titsflyingsouth · 30/07/2022 10:02

Kit is lovely.

(Loathe Hugo....)

Sunshine2243 · 02/02/2023 08:48

Kit

Wombat222 · 02/02/2023 08:52

Hugo and Jules are a bit posh for me so I’d choose Kit :)

Are there lots of famous Juleses?

SaltyGod · 02/02/2023 08:58

Two Kits in our class, and one Hugo. I'd go Jules

NatWestPigFamily · 02/02/2023 09:00

Hugo

From that list, I'd say at least Jules Bianchi, Jules Massenet, Jules Rimet and Jules Verne are famous enough…

Would imagine the baby's been named by now though Grin

wizzywig · 02/02/2023 09:02

Kit rhymes with shit

Oh, God,, hadn't noticed this was an old thread

Kit or Hugo MIL is called Jules.

DuchessOfSausage · 02/02/2023 13:11

Hugo

IsThePopeCatholic · 02/02/2023 13:13

Kit. The other 2 names conjure up visions of men in red cord trousers and Barbour jackets.

DuchessOfSausage · 02/02/2023 14:31

@IsThePopeCatholic , to you maybe. None of them conjure up such visions for me. A Kit or Hugo over 30 yrs yes, and a 30+ Jules would make me think of someone of African-Caribbean heritage, but the names are mainstream now.

cravingtoblerone · 02/02/2023 18:52

Kit.

Have no real opinion on Jules. LOATHE Hugo....

mumonherphone · 02/02/2023 19:37

Kit

Jules and Hugo are a bit too posh for me although I like Jude
