Are we condemning him to a lifetime of When You Say Nothing At All jokes?

I do a bit but I'm old.
I'm not sure that younger people would to be honest.
If you like the name I would go for it.

50isthenew20 · 24/07/2022 22:22

embolass · 24/07/2022 22:23

Nope and that from an ex Ronan super fan! Son has friend Ronan for over 10 years and todays the first I’ve connected the two !?!?

Cas112 · 24/07/2022 22:25

PolliFlinders · 24/07/2022 22:25

No, it's a lovely name. I know several but am in Scotland.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 24/07/2022 22:27

Love the name Ronan.

Snugglemonkey · 24/07/2022 22:36

No, but I am Irish so there are plenty of Ronan's that come to mind. It is a beautiful name.

Moonchild18 · 24/07/2022 22:36

I do but I'm not sure the younger generation will have any idea who Ronan Keating is 🤷‍♀️

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 24/07/2022 22:37

How about Roan or Rowan?

TowerStork · 24/07/2022 22:37

No. I live in Ireland. There are lots of Ronans

ThickCutSteakChips · 24/07/2022 22:37

No, but I have Irish family/know lots of Irish people so I know quite a few Ronans.

It's a lovely name!

Aspidistra1 · 24/07/2022 22:50

I know two in real life living in England, one age
4 and one age 34. Think it’s totally fine to use and lovely. Also thought of the centaur in Harry Potter.

My teens haven’t a clue who Ronan Keating is. I was talking about his son being on Love Island a few weeks ago and they both said ‘Who’s Ronan Keating?’. So I think you’re safe to use on a baby now.

I agree they would probably more associate it with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

I haven't a clue who Ronan Keating is, and I was a teenager quite some time ago.

Who under the age of 30 will ever have heard of Ronan Keating?

Me. Maybe I'm the only one though.

Cloud16 · 25/07/2022 09:12

It wouldn't be my first thought. It's not like Miley or Beyonce. I know a couple of Ronans.

Also Roan might be an option?

User952539 · 25/07/2022 09:14

Yes or the Marvel baddie.

QuentininQuarantino · 25/07/2022 09:17

THE DESTROYER

(as in the marvel films).

Cattenberg · 25/07/2022 09:25

Yes but I can't imagine his peers will

This^

I think Ronan is a lovely name.

SycamoreTall · 25/07/2022 10:37

It's a lovely name.

I think it's associated with Keating, but not so unusual that it's exclusive to him, if you see what I mean. More Cara (someone could ask "As in Delavigne?") than Beyonce.

Rowan and Roman and Rory are names you hear a bit now, so he'll fit in nicely with his generation. I'd say you should go for it.

Splicebaked · 25/07/2022 10:38

Yes but his generation won't

Enb76 · 25/07/2022 10:40

I'm of an age to remember Ronan Keating but actually what comes into my head is Ronan the Destroyer
