Baby girl name can’t decide

Little miss is due very soon and we still haven’t settled on a name. There are several names on our list that we like but it has been hard to choose.

Names we are considering:

Ava - I don’t know if it’s too common
Piper - I love it and I don’t think I’ve ever heard it where I live.
Lexi - Seems to be quite popular but I haven’t heard of any small ones
Imogen
Bailey

It would also be helpful to know the popularity of these names, as some are more popular than others but popularity isn’t the most important thing to us although we sometimes like to be a little adventurous and go for something different. We live in north London and don’t know many children.

Imogen! I have one and everyone always comments on how lovely it is!

SummerSummer8 · 25/07/2022 15:55

Piper. What do you think @Becknutmeg

ariesalien · 25/07/2022 16:04

Ava - far too common
Piper - know a few but wouldn't say it's popular. I like it!
Lexi - haven't heard it on any kids under 8. I like this as well
Imogen - getting pretty popular, know of quite a few. It is a lovely name though!
Bailey - my fave. Haven't heard it on any babies in past 10 years and I think it's so cute

WaveyHair · 25/07/2022 16:09

Piper - favourite
Imogen - second favourite
Bailey - more of a dogs name to me
Ava - too popular
Lexi - is it short for Alexandra?

DogsAndGin · 25/07/2022 16:25

Imogen is lovely. Bailey sounds like a dog

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/07/2022 16:28

Imogen is best.

Bailey reminds me of a brand of caravan.

drinkallthecoffee · 25/07/2022 16:29

I love Ava, Piper and Imogen, although I feel Ava is everywhere at the moment. I think I like Piper the most.

I don't necessarily think Bailey is a boys name like others have said, I'd say it's a truly unisex name like Taylor.

Not keen on Lexi though, it's very much a nickname. Alexandra would be nice and has lots of other nickname options too should she prefer it.

KayEmAy · 25/07/2022 16:35

So many great options! My favorite is Piper! I love it! I'm in the US and here it is that perfect mix of known but uncommon. I also love that it has an intuitive spelling.

Runner up for me is Bailey! Though that could be because a top favorite name of mine is Bay :)

The others are lovely but I do think relatively popular, if that's something you don't want then I'd lead towards Piper and Bailey :)

Also for extra credit, some names that sprang to mind when reading your list -

Raven

Keira

Davina

Annika

Stevie nn Eve

Noa

Harlow nn Harley or Lo

Daisy

Talia

Gia nn Gigi

Demi

Spencer

Andie ( on it's own or for Alexandra.. also gives you Lexi if you like)

Billie (Willa/Wilhelmina)

Thea

Rory

Cassia

Imogen is nice. Ava is OK. The rest are dreadful. You can't call a child Bailey. It's a surname. Piper is awful.

WaltzingWaters · 25/07/2022 16:42

Ava - very popular but I love it (was my girls choice but had a boy)
Piper - I love it.
Lexi - I love it
Imogen - I personally don’t like it but everyone else seems to!
Bailey - don’t like it. Although I’d definitely think of it as a girls name (not too uncommon in the US at least) which is opposite to everyone else, couldn’t imagine a boy being called Bailey.

Amdone123 · 25/07/2022 16:49

Ava - love it.
Bailey - dislike immensely
Imogen - love it ( also Verity, Lydia, Felicity - same vibe)
Lexi - don't like ( love Alexandra)
Piper - I like it

SummerSummer8 · 28/07/2022 13:39

I agree on Ava:)

SummerSummer8 · 28/07/2022 13:40

Interesting:)

DuchessOfSausage · 28/07/2022 14:00

I don't like Ava at all. Ay-vuh. Yuk

Dic · 28/07/2022 15:45

Lexi is awful. Sounds too much like sexy.

The others are okay.

rosemarysageandthyme · 29/07/2022 07:27

Alexandra is lovely. Shorten to lex if you want but this is sophisticated and classic suitable for
Grown up. Never goes out of fashion

Imogen - love how it ends in an N. Classic and dateless

Bailey - nope. Not a name

Ava - pretty but common now

Pilper - v trendy right now. Will it be naff or dated In 25 years?
