I love Finley that one was one of my top picks for a boy. Graham is the middle name, does that name flow well?

I love it.

Ravenclawdropout · 23/07/2022 00:30

He sounds like one of Neville's best friends at Hogwarts.

Happenchance · 23/07/2022 00:32

Honest opinion?! Sounds like a good name for a Fagin-esque character.

YourWinter · 23/07/2022 00:37

Nice, until someone who has difficulty with ‘gr’ and ‘tr’ can only manage to say Finley Gwaham Twicker. You can’t alter the surname but two consecutive names with ‘r’ as the second letter can be really difficult and embarrassing for someone with that common speech defect to say aloud. Voice of experience here!

I’d say Tricker is a surname that is disproportionately going to produce those kind of names.

have You thought about the initials?

TreePoser · 23/07/2022 14:50

Tricker is a hard sur name.

Finley Tricker......... hmm. it's not awful but, it sounds a bit comical?
What about something more classic.

Charlie Tricker

girljulian · 23/07/2022 14:59

Finley Tricker definitely sounds like a character in a novel. Not necessarily a bad thing — he’ll really stand out. If you have a difficult surname the options are: very safe first name (George, Chris etc) or lean into it.

I used to walk past a company owned by a man called Sworn King. What a power move from those parents! But I’ve never forgotten it.

Charlie Tricker

Why is Charlie tricker any different to Finlay tricker?

Its going to sound a bit like a character name whatever you put in front of Tricker.

Aria999 · 23/07/2022 15:12

Not graham in the middle. It's just a bit much.

Finlay Tricker or Graham Tricker is ok but I would go for something simple and monosyllabic if you want a middle name (John?)

pinklavenders · 23/07/2022 15:32

Finley Tricker or Fin Tricker doesn't sound great imo

I appreciate that, but Finley Tricker makes me think of a thinly veiled tricker.

Deadringer · 23/07/2022 23:02

Finly Tricker is awful, it makes me think of the artful dodger. I don't like Graham much but it flows better with Tricker. Something simple like James would be better imo.

Deadringer · 23/07/2022 23:03

*Sorry I mean Finley.

Crunched · 23/07/2022 23:08

Are you a Northamptonshire Tricker? How amazing if you are, and then of course, James will flow well.
Alexander Graham Tricker sounds very distinguished.

pinklavenders · 24/07/2022 11:18

Graham Tricker sounds much better.

GreenManalishi · 24/07/2022 11:21

I'd go for something short and snappy for the first name, Tricker doesn't need jazzing up really. Speaking as someone who had a hell of a surname to pair first names with, I feel your pain!

threecupsofteaminimum · 24/07/2022 11:32

Very kindly, no, plus the initials are Blush

flashpaper · 24/07/2022 11:34

I don't get what is wrong with FGT?

Biscuitsneeded · 24/07/2022 11:35

It's fine, although I would spell it Finlay.

Bearing in mind kids these days remove vowels to text speak and in popular music, think how that could be read..

TalkingToMyselfAgain · 25/07/2022 09:56

Finley Tricker is awful. Graham is such a "plain" and old name.

pinklavenders · 25/07/2022 13:44

Graham may be old and plain but imo it's due a comeback!

Graham Tricker sounds great imo.

orangeisthenewpuce · 25/07/2022 13:46

I like Francis Tricker. Shortened to Frankie. I don't like Finlay Tricker

AutumnColours9 · 28/07/2022 22:55

I like it apart from Graham
