I like Mary. Cerys too, but only if you're Welsh (I'm Welsh and always find it really weird. Similarly, I don't feel like I can use English names!)
Victor is nice, Vic is a cool nn.

KangarooKenny · 22/07/2022 21:33

I like Cerys, and you don’t need to be Welsh.
And Hugo. I like Vinny, but not Vincent.

20viona · 22/07/2022 21:34

All dreadful

Ravenclawdropout · 22/07/2022 21:38

I like Dolores but FYI its very Catholic and is often given especially in Spanish speaking communities in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows. My husband's great aunt is Dolores and she is in her 80s living in California. She has always been a big character and hilarious (as well as tall and glam) so I have good connotations with this name.

Cerys and Hugo are my faves.

I think a boy called Florian would be constantly teased

SemperIdem · 22/07/2022 21:51

Dolores - I don’t think this name sounds as lovely without a Spanish accent
Cerys - lovely
Mary - classic, but unusual these days
Jocelyn - always think of this as a male name

Boys:
Victor - Meldrew. But he was a good sort really. You’d be ahead of the curve with it, I think
Vincent - makes me think of a bald gangster
Florian - I knew one at university, German. Prefer Dorian
Hugo - makes me think of a French bulldog

MangoMayoMacaroni · 22/07/2022 21:55

Cerys and Vincent! Imagine shouting their name in a park…. I personally can’t imagine a young person called Mary, Dolores or Florian

pilates · 22/07/2022 21:55

I only like Cerys

DoNutSweatTheSmallStuff · 22/07/2022 21:55

Cerys or Vincent

Snugglemonkey · 22/07/2022 22:04

I like Delores, a classic name and Vincent. When I was at uni there was a really lovely, very attractive Vinny so I think nice things about that name.

PrimroseWharf · 22/07/2022 22:06

I like Hugo and Mary

Have you considered Henry or Maria?

Jemimapinotduck · 22/07/2022 22:09

One of my daughter's middle name is Cerys, absolutely bloody love it!!! 🥰🥰🥰 half wish it was her first name

Twizbe · 22/07/2022 22:11

Cerys - but then my daughter is called Cerys. It's an amazing name ... BUT if you live in England expect a lot of mispronunciation.

I like Hugh or Huw more than Hugo.

craggydragon · 22/07/2022 22:45

Dolores - sister act
Cerys - beautiful, I don't think pronunciation will be too hard. Charis is a Scottish option
Mary - fine
Jocelyn - not keen

Victor - meh
Vincent - don't mind
Florian - not keen
Hugo - like. Also Hugh?

Twizbe · 23/07/2022 05:50

@craggydragon that's what I thought, I mean it's said just how it's spelt but OMG ....

I get either

Seris
Se-Rhys
Or a mumbled errrr and silence before I jump in and say her name.

Mumofgirls2017 · 23/07/2022 08:20

Dolores- no, frumpy
Cerys- not a fan
Mary- like
Jocelyn- ok, but frumpy

Boys:
Victor- love
Vincent- like
Florian- bit flowery
Hugo- not a fan

FlamingoDust · 23/07/2022 08:27

Victor and Vincent are lovely. Dolores is nice once I get past the Harry Potter thoughts!

DogsAndGin · 23/07/2022 08:30

Hugo and Vincent are ok 😊

pinklavenders · 23/07/2022 10:57

Love them all!

I'd pick Dolores or Florian.

PurpleVioletBlue · 23/07/2022 13:40

Dolores- beautiful, but worry about Dolly as a nn. Ramona? Nina?
Cerys - beautiful, also love Carys. Iris? Lois?
Mary - bit dull and religious sounding to my ears. Lucy? Juliet? Merryn? Madeleine?
Jocelyn - like nn Joss. Prefer Josephine

Boys:
Victor - stuffy
Vincent - ok, would likely be Vinnie
Florian - awful
Hugo - awful, tough quite like Huw or Hugh

Workawayxx · 23/07/2022 13:43

sone are a bit marmite so I think you’ll get a range of opinions! Mary and victor are my favourites. Also like Cerys.

Partypoooooper · 23/07/2022 13:51

No no no no no no no no

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 23/07/2022 13:53

Dolores - 75 year old Irish woman. Too religious for me.
Cerys - very pretty
Mary - faaaar too religious for me.
Jocelyn - quite like it

Victor - I can see this one having a resurgence in the next few years. Strong name
Vincent - I like it
Florian - old fashioned German bloke
Hugo - is becoming ubiquitous

AppleBottomRats · 23/07/2022 13:58

Love Mary, Cerys is ok but I don’t like Jocelyn or Dolores. I’d much rather name my child something like Felicity than Dolores, meaning-wise.
Out of your boys names I only like Vincent.

KirstenBlest · 23/07/2022 14:05

Dolores - too latin-american
Cerys - too middle-aged welsh woman, will be Serris or Cerise
Mary - like
Jocelyn - ok. Joss as nn is nice. Prefer Josceline spelling

Boys:
Victor - love it
Vincent - Vince and Vinnie both awful
Florian - no
Hugo - ok
