Very Thomas Hardy. There's a "Fancy Day" in "Under the Greenwood Tree".

I know a few Fancys, all of Chinese heritage. Like any other name once you know someone of that name it just becomes normal.

Why not? It's phonetically very similar to Clancy, Hansi, Nancy, and Tansy which are well-accepted names. It's just blind adherence to tradition that makes us prefer, say, Kitty to Shitty or Betsy to Wetsy, right?

That said, it does remind me of the US cat food brand. Your surname doesn't happen to be Feast, does it?

I find it fine, as someone above mentioned, some Chinese girls taken these as their names (probably picked by themselves while having Chinese name) and it seems people did get used to it.

People here just don't understand how real world actually takes on unusual names (newsflash, people get used to it)
