I think Oscar is lovely and suits your sibset, but then I was never keen on Arthur.
Yes, definitely Oscar.

SpaceJamtart · 12/07/2022 08:06

Oscar

I know archie can be a nickname for Arthur but its not an obvious one because Archie is a normal name on its own, I have a name like that and honestly it is the most annoyng thing, so I would not do that to a child.

Cameronnorrieisabitofalright · 12/07/2022 08:13

Arthur is surely Art /Arty?

ShandaLear · 12/07/2022 08:13

Archie is a nickname for Archibald. Artie or Art is a more appropriate nickname for Arthur.

Ginajo · 12/07/2022 08:19

I've never heard of Archie as a nickname for Arthur? Why not just call him Archie? I prefer Oscar.

MassiveSalad22 · 12/07/2022 08:20

Oscar. I find Arthur stuffy (it’s my DS’ middle name though 😄)

If DD had been a boy she would have been Oscar or Otis 😍

KirstenBlest · 12/07/2022 08:51

Archie doesn't seem a nn for Arthur.

I don't really understand the need for a nn.

pinklavenders · 12/07/2022 09:02

Archibald -> Archie
Arthur -> Arthie or Artie

I'm not keen on Ozzie at all, sorry.

Otis is lovely!

FlatWhiteLover · 12/07/2022 09:22

Why do you need a NN?

I like Oscar, but Ozzy makes me think of Osbourne...

Arthur is naff, and Archie as a NN is even worse.

scoutcat · 12/07/2022 09:38

I prefer Arthur, Oscar sounds too posh for me haha

NannyR · 12/07/2022 09:46

Oscar is great, not keen on ozzy. If you like Archie and would use it as his day to day name, just name him that - I think it works as a standalone name, like Harry or Charlie. Artie is the obvious nickname for Arthur, Archie is a completely different name, it just shares the first two letters.

pinklavenders · 12/07/2022 14:25

Ozzie reminds me of Ozzie Osbourne. I don't like it at all actually.

salharg · 12/07/2022 19:44

I agree if you love the name Archie and plan to use it I would just pick that as it is a stand-alone name. I love it by the way! Great choice

i prefer Archie to Oscar

MiseryWIthAStent · 12/07/2022 19:46

I hope no one ever calls my Oscar ozzy 😅😅

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2022 23:58

Because you want to use Archie as a diminutive I'll say Oscar.

I prefer Arthur to Oscar, but I can't bear the name Archie. It's not a usual diminutive for Arthur, anyway.

bridgetreilly · 13/07/2022 00:41

I don’t like Ozzie at all, and Archie doesn’t work for Arthur imo. I vote for Archie, no nn needed.

emmathedilemma · 13/07/2022 11:25

I like both but agree with others that Archie is a not a nn for Arthur!

Crunchymum · 13/07/2022 11:43

I really don't understand this obsession with nicknames?

Pick a name you love, see what develops organically? That is how you get a nickname.

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/07/2022 22:48

Arthur nn Artie (favourite)
Or Archibald nn Archie

Not Ozzy

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/07/2022 22:50

FlatWhiteLover · 12/07/2022 09:22

Why do you need a NN?

I like Oscar, but Ozzy makes me think of Osbourne...

Arthur is naff, and Archie as a NN is even worse.

How is Arthur naff??

You might not like it but it’s a standard classic name.

Ewisa · 14/07/2022 06:56

I would prefer Arthur:-)
