Which Girl Name?

37 weeks pregnant and don't have a name picked for a girl. Do you prefer Edith, Jessie or Rowan?

Edith. Jessie and Rowan sound like boys names to me, and also passing fads, whereas Edith is timeless and there are interesting historical figures she’ll share the name with. If she prefers a more gender neutral name, there’s always the nickname Eddie.

Congratulations! Ooh difficult as all three are so different...

1. Edith - cute and nn is cute

2. Jessie - personally prefer Jessica which a nn of Jessie
3. Rowan - pretty, I've only ever met male Rowan's though. That's not to say it wouldn't be a gorgeous girls name though. Rowena perhaps?

Rowan, but it's unisex. Jessie is nice if short for Jessica, but I prefer Jess. Not keen on Edith or Edie.

Jessie is just a nn to me, and I don't love nn as given names. Also it feels dated - I know Jessica seems to get a lot of praise on MN for some reason but to me it will always be a name for someone born in the 80s/90s, I just can't see it on a baby.

Rowan I prefer for boys but it's objectively quite nice.

Jessie is ok but there are an increasing number of male Jesses so I think it would get annoying. Jess or Jessica would be better but Edith is still nicer.
Rowan is lovely too but there are too many male Rowans (and Rohans, Roans and Romans) so again I think it would get annoying.

Rowan is a boys name to me. I hate boys names being appropriated for girls.

Rowan, only because I think it’s a bit less popular than Edith (but check that.) They are both great.

I like Jessie if short for Jessica too, just not quite as much.

I just wanted to say thank you for starting this thread @Babydo22. I'm pregnant with a girl and we have decided on Edith, but I've started having second thoughts (despite loving it) because of the reaction it might get. So glad to see people like it. Some members of my family will just have to suck it up.
