How popular is this near you? Would you class it a now name or a classic?

BumBurnerBum · 07/07/2022 18:20

Don't know any but I love it, it's classic to me.

Caribou1 · 07/07/2022 19:16

It's my name :)

Caribou1 · 07/07/2022 19:17

In terms of popularity I was one of two in my school year, I think my partner has one on his Facebook list but can't think of anyone else I personally know with it.

Roselilly36 · 07/07/2022 19:20

Lovely, only ever known one Francesca, Iike the nn Frankie too.

FuncaMunca · 07/07/2022 19:21

I worked with one - she'd probably be around 30 now - and she went by Fran

Caribou1 · 07/07/2022 19:21

I think Frances is nice too.

Daffodilsdance · 07/07/2022 19:22

I teach a 13 year old Francesca . She goes by Fran . It’s a lovely name .

Caribou1 · 07/07/2022 19:24

I've had a lot of compliments about my name too.

Solosunrise · 07/07/2022 19:26

I really like it. I know one who goes by Cheska ( not sure of the spelling)

FlissyPaps · 07/07/2022 22:53

I know 2.
One goes by “Fran” and the other “Frankie”.

I don’t like the “Fran” nn, much prefer Cesca. But the full form Francesca is a beautiful name.

Enko · 07/07/2022 23:00

I know a 52 year old. A 40 year old. A 34 year old a 24 year old a 18 year old an 14 year old and a friend just announced her new granddaughter as Francesca

They go by a variety of names. Francesca Fran frannie cheska. Chessie Chess unsure if baby will have a nn

I like it as a name but the nns puts me off personally. But yes classic for sure.

SpottyStripyDuvet · 07/07/2022 23:02

Only ever met one who goes by Frankie. She is in my DS's year 1 class.

Heartofglass12345 · 07/07/2022 23:09

It's a lovely name, my friend has a 6 year old Francesca. I don't understand giving them a lovely name like that then shortening it to something like frankie though, but that's just me, I like full versions of names.

ThanksMateThanksMate · 07/07/2022 23:13

I taught a lovely Francesca years ago. She's the only one I've known in the UK. When I lived in Italy, I met many! I love it.
I have lots of Franks and Frances(es) in my family so we have every derivation.
Lovely name!!!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 07/07/2022 23:13

I like it. I do remember reading that Frances was due for a comeback so get ahead of the crowd.

FrancescaContini · 07/07/2022 23:14

It’s my favourite!

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 07/07/2022 23:15

Love love love !!

quietnightmare · 07/07/2022 23:22

Beautiful

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 07/07/2022 23:27

I’ve only ever known two, one is around 40 and the other around 20. I think it’s a beautiful name.

Amdone123 · 07/07/2022 23:40

I worked with a Francesca - she'll be about 35 now. It's a beautiful name. I dislike Frankie, too harsh. I like Frances, too, but again, dislike Fran.

MarmiteCoriander · 07/07/2022 23:42

Only know 1 I went to school with so in her early 40's now. Her dad was Scottish and mum was Hungarian. I like Francesca, but wouldn't like the nn of Frannie or Fran.

pimlicoanna · 08/07/2022 00:10

Not popular here. I really dislike it. But thank goodness everyone likes different names!

Orphlids · 08/07/2022 12:29

I only know one, my DD’s friend aged 9. It’s a beautiful name, elegant and lively sounding. Not too common. An excellent choice.

Sevillegarden · 08/07/2022 18:52

I love this name which is good because it's my name! I go by Francesca in most areas of my life, so it is possible if you and Francesca prefer this to the available nicknames. I've rarely come across other Francescas of any age (in the UK)
