Middle name order

My husband and I are trying for baby number two. We already have a nineteen month old son, Gilbert.

We plan on calling a future daughter Hero (it's Greek in origin and was used as one of Shakespeare's characters in Much Ado About Nothing which is my husband's favourite play :) ) I know it's not to everyone's taste but we've been set on it for years now.

A lot of my family members have two middle names (my mum has three and my poor cousin has four!). We followed that tradition with our son and plan to do so with our next child.

My husband's mum died before he and I met and we want to honour her if we have a daughter, her name was Jane.

I am the fifth generation in a line of Rose's and I've always wanted my daughter's middle name to be Rose as well.

The problem I have is that all three names (Hero, Rose and Jane) are all very short and don't sound good together in any order. I've played around with a few combinations of Rose extensions but haven't found one that really speaks to me yet. Does anyone have a favourite of these combos? Or can you come up with anything I may not of thought of? I'm not a fan of Rosalind et al. If it helps, our surname is one syllable too and starts with F.

Hero Jane Rosella
Hero Rosanna Jane
Hero Jane Rosemary

Wildcard...

Hero Elizabeth Rose (Jane was actually DMIL's middle name. Her first was a cutesy diminutive of Elizabeth but she really did not like it and no one used it).

My DD is Rose Elizabeth so I love this name, but I actually think Hero Jane Rose works nicely. The other way round (Hero Rose Jane) doesn't sound quite so good to me as there are too many "ro" sounds close together. Hero is a great name!

I love the name Hero and Much ado about nothing is my favorite Shakespeare play too. I think Hero Hero Roselle Jane sounds nice. I like Rosella a lot

mortalprojections · 01/07/2022 15:31

I don't know why it added two Hero's in there sorry! Should read Hero Rosella Jane

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2022 15:43

I love Hero!

Hero Rosanna Jane would be my choice.

Hero Jane Rose - I would retain the middle names in the way that is important to you as middle names are not often known anyway. I think this sounds nice too.

I agree that you need the Jane between the Ro at the end of Hero and the Ro at the start of Rose/which ever longer version you decide to go for. How many syllables does the surname have? Does it have any sounds at the start that would repeat/clash or make tongue twisters of any of the options?

It's just one and starts with F. All the combos work with it I think :)

I think Hero Jane Rose sounds fine you know!

Underhisi · 01/07/2022 16:05

I think Hero Jane Rose works

caringcarer · 01/07/2022 16:31

Hero is a bit odd to me but Elizabeth Rose are lovely names. Would Hero not be more of a boy's name?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/07/2022 16:36

I think Hero Jane Rose flows well, otherwise there are two ro-Ro close together

Luxa · 01/07/2022 17:59

Hero Janina Rosalie

neverwinternights · 01/07/2022 18:02

I'm partial to Rosina and Rosabel.
I also think Hero Elizabeth Rose sounds very beautiful as well.

I think Hero Jane Rose is okay

MoonKnight · 01/07/2022 19:31

Hero Primrose Jane

Hero Rosaria Jane
Hero Rosamund Jane
Hero Rosanna Jane
Hero Rosalind Jame
Hero Rosemary Jane

In that order..

If she was known as Jane and you want to honour her then I don’t think calling her Elizabeth will do it

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/07/2022 19:40

I’ve no idea where the quote came from..

Sandsnake · 01/07/2022 19:41

I think Hero Jane Rose is fine. To me Hero Elizabeth Rose is definitely better. But I also think properly honouring your MIL with Jane is more important than how it scans. You could always just go with them all - Hero Jane Elizabeth Rose

Ikeameatballs · 01/07/2022 19:43

Hero Jane Rose is lovely.

Zarzuela · 01/07/2022 19:51

I like Hero Jane Rose. I wouldn't do Hero Elizabeth Rose because initials are HER and I don't like initials that spell words.

RoseMartha · 01/07/2022 19:57

Hero Rosalind Jane

DisforDarkChocolate · 01/07/2022 19:58

Hero Rosemary Jane.

I'd want to avoid JR in the initials.

ineedafairygodmother · 01/07/2022 20:54

Hero Rosie Jane?

Lostlostlost3 · 01/07/2022 21:10

Hero Elizabeth Rose is just lovely!

Dreamingof3 · 02/07/2022 19:58

Another vote for Hero Jane Rose!
