Baby names

Walt’s brother or sister…

Here we go again - a positive pregnancy test and the first thing on my mind is “what am I going to call him/her?!”

For anyone playing along, DH and I really struggled naming our first. Our gorgeous little guy Walt is growing into his name but it certainly feels like he’ll be the only Walt this century.

We’re going to start our thinking earlier this time… I think we like short, strong names… but who knows

You named your child Walt?!

His sibling then could be:
Huey, Luey, Pluto or Popeye

Walt as a full name is rare, but not unheard-of. And Walter is increasingly popular, so there will likely be some little Walters out there who go by Walt: https://names.darkgreener.com/#walt

She's clearly said his name is Walt. She wasn't asking for opinions on the name Walt so you don't need to be rude about it!

Ha only one person irl has made a Disney related comment but interesting to see so many comments online. We got a surprise when we announced Walt’s name how many friends/family sent through Walt Whitman quotes or gave us books. We got nothing Disney related (though this could be politeness I guess. Walt is a Walter but day to day we call him Walt. Will keep in mind Mickey and Minnie though!

Walter seems really popular around here. I know a Walter with a brother; Barnaby and one with a Rupert.

jossysgiant · 01/07/2022 14:56

Dennis (the Menace)

SirenSays · 01/07/2022 16:34

I had a great uncle Walter. His siblings were Rodney and Alfred. I think there's a Barry, John and Arthur in there somewhere too.

midsomermurderess · 01/07/2022 17:59

Martha or Mabel.Walt and either of those; quite picket-fence middle America.

Calmondeck · 01/07/2022 18:59

Goodness 😅picket-fence. Maybe I should’ve titled this “we failed naming our first child, what’s a good unrelated name for our second?”

Thanks for some of the good suggestions, we really like Anna, Ada, Jude and Finn.

Please ignore other posters. I love the name Walter, but then it was my great grandad's name. It's not your fault that such a lovely name has become synonymous with Disney!

I think another classic name would match:

Girl:
Alice

Boy:
Richard
James

Sydney (m/f)

Hugo
Albert
Ernest
Francis/Frank

Olive
Ada
Nora
Cora
Jessie
Rita
