Lois

I love Lois.

Tamar is a bit harsh sounding for me.

Lois

Lois

Lois.

Tamar sounds masculine to me, unless it's Tamara.

DotDotDotDotDot · 29/06/2022 08:40

Definitely Lois

I far prefer the name Tamar. I know Lois is quite fashionable right now but I just don't love the sound of it at all. Tamar is a really interesting sounding strong but beautiful name.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 29/06/2022 09:04

Tamar after the medieval Georgian Queen. But pronounced the Georgian way (TAM-mar) rather than like the English river.

Lois

Tamar.
Not keen on Tay though

Is Lois fashionble now? I don't know any, and according to the UK name statistics it's dropped over 100 places recently

Lois. Think it's lovely. I only know one and i don't know why it's such an unusual name!

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 29/06/2022 10:31

Lois is one of those 'currently trendy on MN’ names. Seems to get suggested a lot these days. To me though it’s the name of an unfulfilled housewife in 1970s suburban America. (I must have read a book featuring a depressed Lois)

I love Tamar though. Very pretty.

KirstenBlest · 29/06/2022 10:35

@Ouchmytoe100 , @MumChats , it's quite popular in Wales. I know a few , and most say it as Loyce

TealGuitar · 29/06/2022 10:39

Lois. Tamar makes me think of the bridge.

Luxa · 29/06/2022 10:48

Tamar

PraiseBee · 29/06/2022 10:49

Tamar - I used to know a Tamar. She was an interesting and elegant woman.

SirChenjins · 29/06/2022 10:51

Lois at a push, but not really keen on either. I’m guessing you wouldn’t pronounce Tamar like the river?

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 29/06/2022 11:14

I love Lois, may use it for a DD2 if I ever have one.

Not keen on Tamar but I do love Tamsin, which seems a nice middle ground?

KirstenBlest · 29/06/2022 11:41

It can be Tay-mar or Ta-marr, @SirChenjins , just like Lois can be Lo-is or Loyce

fireandpaint · 29/06/2022 11:51

I know 3 little children called Lois. I prefer Tamar although people may pronounce it in different ways.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 29/06/2022 11:56

Lois is lovely.

ofwarren · 29/06/2022 12:03

Lois
Really don't like Tamar.

SatinHeart · 29/06/2022 12:06

Not a fan of Lois.

Tamar is nice but will get mispronounced a lot.

Scirocco · 29/06/2022 12:30

Tamar.

Lois reminds me of Family Guy.
