@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads

How were they born 200 years ago?!?! how old are you?!

My oldest great grandparents was born in 1868. When I'm in my 70s (which many Mumsnet users are) they'll have been born 200 years ago. It's not that unusual or surprising.

GG were Amelia, Mary, Sarah Ann, Isabella, Annie, Elizabeth, Emma, Emma

That seems like an unusual number of great grandmothers - biologically it can only be four?

I've just realised I only know two of mine - Ada and Louise. I must find out what the others were.

Xenia · 28/01/2023 10:20

Mine above were great grandmothers. The one born in 1839 had 10 children including 7 sons of which my grandfather was the very last born in 1880. He married a bit late and my father was his last child born when my grandfather was 48 and then my parents did not have children until their 30s and I am over 60 which is how we get back to 1839 for my oldest great grandmother.

If we moved to great great ones that would be 8 of them and they are:
Mary
Frances
Isabella
Isabella (another Isabella)
Ann
Margaret
Mary (another Mary)
Catherine

(Born 1803 to 1852)

(I have done our family tree which is why I know all this. It is very interesting)

My great grandmother was born in 1878, 100 years before me. It seems astonishing that my mum (74) had a Grandmother born in the 1800s. Her oldest great grandparent was born around 1840.
