Florence May was known as Florrie and had a mallen streak in hair that came down to her waist.

On my mothers side
Ann Maria (b1868)
Emily (b1876)

On my father's side
Jane (b1835)
Sarah Ann (b1864)

There was almost 30 years between mothers of my grandparents on my fathers side. My grandfather's mother Jane was born 187 years ago, and was 6 years older than my grandmother's grandmother.

This is my Dad aged 1 in 1911 with his mother, Gladys Eugénie, his grandmother, Sarah Ann and his great grandmother, Rebecca

It’s a pretty traditional name I think? (I mean, as you say it’s in the Bible, but even allowing that not all biblical names have been popular all along, I think that one has been steadily used)

There are four Rebeccas from the 1700s in my family tree and a few more from the 1800s.

Great grandmas that I know of were Isabel, Alice & Emma. I can’t remember the fourth and realised I don’t know my great grandads names at all!

I can only name two as well. It shocks me how few generations it takes to be forgotten. I know my mothers grandmothers were eva and jane but on my father's side, i have nothing.... no memory of him telling me or my noting the names.

So my daughter's grandchildren might not be able to name me!!!

Barbara - knew her well, died when I was 9.

Edith - have photos of me with her, died when I was 8 and she was extraordinary. A Victorian and told wonderful tales of a very hard life. I inherited all of her correspondence and photo albums.

Ruth - died 25yrs before I was born but happily, found a photo of her just a month ago having had no idea what she looked like until then.

Florence - died 30yrs before I was born, the day before her son - my grandad's - wedding. He never got over it.
