For a boy, yay or nay? I love it!

I love it. This was my boys name but we had a girl

midsomermurderess · 23/06/2022 22:56

I like it. Dawn O’Porter used it for one of her sons.

Dollgiraffe · 23/06/2022 22:57

Love it- I wanted it, DH didn’t. We didn’t use it in the end 😢

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/06/2022 22:59

I just think he’d get a kicking.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 23/06/2022 23:04

I absolutely love it, I have a very lovely (gorgeous looking) neighbour called Valentine

FriendlyPineapple · 23/06/2022 23:05

Ooh I kinda love it actually!

TiredInPerpetuity · 23/06/2022 23:05

I like it but I think it'd take a very good looking teenage boy and adult to pull off Valentine

Apollonia1 · 23/06/2022 23:33

I love it.

I had Valentina on my girls list, and love Valentine/ Valentino for boys.

ImAvingOops · 23/06/2022 23:34

I love it - I think it's very cool

nocoolnamesleft · 23/06/2022 23:36

No. My dad was nearly called Valentine. He is so relieved and grateful that he was not.

SirenSays · 23/06/2022 23:37

I'm not sure about this one. I think it's a hard one to pull off.

pantjog · 24/06/2022 00:00

I absolutely love it and it’s a family name as well… but didn’t use it alas.

Kite22 · 24/06/2022 00:03

I really don't like it.

Ask your dh to go about introducing himself as Valentine to people for a month or two and then see what he thinks about having to "wear" the name.

kieronsmum · 24/06/2022 00:47

my daughter has this for her middle name

Strokethefurrywall · 24/06/2022 01:08

I love it because it reminds me of Billy Zane in Memphis Belle.

Valentina was front runner on our girls list for DS2. To be fair, he could totally pull off Valentine as a boys name.

milkmilkeverywhere · 24/06/2022 07:07

Ooh generally positive! I do think this generation of boys has more scope than previous ones. There's more of a range now. I think it's so dashing

I love Valentina for a girl, but don’t love Valentine as much. I really dislike the nickname Val for a boy or girl though, so wouldn’t use it due to that.

Eddiesferret · 24/06/2022 13:46

Well it kinda depends..

If you had a crystal ball and knew he was going to grow up to be a willowy pre-Raphaelite-esq arty sort with breathtaking good looks then I would say go for it -
Super cool...

However if you get a 16 stone mono syllabic brick layer or rugby full back then I think he will divorce you.. or change it when he's 12 ...

FayCarew · 24/06/2022 15:15

Nay. He won't thank you.

LadyAnnabelsTapestries · 24/06/2022 17:33

How about Valentin instead?

RuthW · 24/06/2022 18:04

No to my taste

AntiHop · 24/06/2022 18:08

Absolutely not. Don't do that to your child
