Hello lovely mumsnetters!

It's early days... don't yet know gender, but was wondering if you lovely lot could let me know your thoughts on my names? I really like these names but have had some backlash from family/friends!

Boys:
Ranulph
Roman
Stanley
Hal (Too nickname-y?)

Girls:
Juno
Marian
Ophelia
Beatrice

Also very much open to suggestions based on the ones I've mentioned!!!

Hi,

My advice wold be to go with what you like, you are the one who will be saying it multiple times a day ^^

Everyone has some associations with names which colours how they think about them. The fact is that once your baby is here and his/her personality become clear, the name you give will mean 'this little person here' and the other associations will fade.

The ONLY other thing I would consider is do the initials work out OK. I mean dont call a kid Freddie Uther Charles Knightly.

For me, I wouldn't use a diminutive as a given name. I mean, if I wanted to call my child Hal (association: 'Open the Pod bay doors, Hal) I would call him Henry on his bc and the Hal in daily usuage. But that's me, you do you.

I love all the other names you picked.

Ophelia is my daughter's name so I'm probably biased but I love it!

I like Stanley as it is a family name for me. Our boy's names would have been Bertie or Monty but we are expecting DD number 2 in October...our current list is:

Persephone
Ianthe
Pandora
Cressida
Matilda
Tabitha
Seraphina
Georgina
Ottilie
Jemima
Evelyn
Romily
Clover
Violet
Daphne
Cassandra
Audrey
Clara
Claudia
Harper
Margot
Aurora
Isadora
Cordelia
Sienna
Perdita
