What name to choose from shortlist!

Hi all,

Baby coming soon and struggling to narrow down the name. We aren’t finding out the sex so have a list for each.

Boys
Alexander

Boys

Alexander, James and George are all classy classic choices
Brian and michael are more unusual these days but I still like them, depends if you do?
Rowan is my baby girls name and if I'd realised RoMan with an M is the fastest rising boy name (now top 30 and still rising) I would not have chosen it. Always a couple of baby Romans (Reuben, Rory, Ruby and Ronnie's) in the baby groups. Very different names but when there's a group of them in a room they merge. Very trendy and obviously a popular choice though. About 3 years ago you'd never meet many baby Romans (with an M) but it's super trendy now

For girls I like Violet and Nora

Another vote for Alexander or Juliet.

Thanks everyone!! Alexander seems to be the front runner boy and girls more mixed! Brian not a popular one 😂 I’ll send the thread to DH to look at too hopefully we can narrow it down to top name for each!

Michael or Nora, but they are all good names (including Brian!)

James and Juliet are my favourites from your lists.

I think it would be funny to meet a cbild called Brian thats like an great-uncle type name to me and so different to your others

My votes are for Alexander and Clara (although also love Juliet!)

I like James and Nora best. Second faves Michael and Violet. Third faves are Alex and Rowan (I like Rowan as a girls name.)

James - I just find this dull. Sorry. I can see it's an objectively nice name
George - this has grown on me. It's my second favourite of your names
Brian - don't like. Forever a middle aged man with a comb over
Michael - I don't dislike this but I really don't like Mike or Mick or Mikey. My DS has a 19 year old friend who is Michael but it never gets shortened and I like it on him
Rowan - I love this for a girl. Don't like it for a boy

Nora - ok
Juliet - lovely
Olivia - not keen. Just because it's so popular
Violet - lovely
Clara - really really lovely

I prefer your girls' list and I would go for Clara with Violet or Juliet as close seconds.
I really like Alexander for a boy.

Alexander by a long way, lovely name!

I like Nora. Juliet I'm not a fan of, but I think Julia is beautiful!

I don’t dislike any of your names but commenting to say I think a baby Brian would feel really fresh and a bit different while still being known, easy to pronounce and spell.

All nice enough names (except Brian!)

James or Rowan would my choice for a boy

Nora or Julie for a girl (Olivia is lovely but massively overused right now)

There aren't enough baby Brians in the world imo!

Brian , Rowan and Nora are definitely no ,
of them all , I’d choose Alexander George or Clara Violet ( though I’d go Violette )

My DH is a James and I have a brother called Brian (definitely not a comb over uncle - he’s a nutter!) so i quite like those two.
alexander has never appealed to me.
Nor Olivia- though I recall my sister saying if she had a daughter she’d have called her Olivia Grace.
I prefer Julia and Julianna and Julianne to Juliet/Juliette but - still lovely. (I have a DD with one of those as a middle name and a mum with the other!).
I’d go for Clara Juliet (I know that wasn’t an option).
