I mean real names not La-A and Lemonjello or Chlamydia or other urban legends.

A friend in the U.S has called her baby son, Sundance. I rather like it in a way though I was taken aback at first.

I met a McLaren recently too, not as unusual as Sundance but not something that you encounter every day either.

A little boy called Zephyr at toddler group. And one called Beauden, pronounced Boden.

Helenloveslee4eva · 16/06/2022 23:24

Ignore me as not babies ( I think you are straying into identifiable with rare names of a certain age )

but the most unusual names I’ve encountered are

Hereward - a real Anglo Saxon name nit made up - just very unusual

and Arras. Which is a pretty much made up name really of a person no longer with us - born just after dad survived the battle of Arras in the 1st world war. So made up names ard not new . Not sure if I like it but much respect for the origin and not using a Nick name but baring it respectfully for nearly 90 yrs.

Quill. I thought they were talking about a pen.

Heartofglass12345 · 16/06/2022 23:38

Cub for a little boy, I can't get my head around it. Imagine being an adult with some of these names!
There's a little girl called Alison in my sons class, which isn't unusual but they're 6, I think it's lovely though!

ElderflowerAccordian · 16/06/2022 23:41

fyn · 17/06/2022 00:00

@everythingcrossed it will be spelt Lettice, it’s a really old name. I know of some older Lettice’s that are close relatives to Duke’s but it’s very unusual now!

Lander-Percy. It sounds really odd to me, although I’ve always assumed it was from a culture I’m not used to.

Ziga · 17/06/2022 00:37

I know a fox and a forest (brothers).

berksandbeyond · 17/06/2022 06:25

Lando. Which was then mentioned on a thread here and got the kicking it deserves

Squiff70 · 17/06/2022 07:50

Somebody named their son Beau-Dylan. They always refer to him as the full name and never shorten it. Makes me cringe!
