What's the most unusual baby name that you've encountered recently?

I mean real names not La-A and Lemonjello or Chlamydia or other urban legends.

A friend in the U.S has called her baby son, Sundance. I rather like it in a way though I was taken aback at first.

I met a McLaren recently too, not as unusual as Sundance but not something that you encounter every day either.

There's a boy called Fox (legal name) which is a bit out there. Most the kids have very traditional names here

If my boy twins had been girl twins, second born would have been Ariella

I know a couple of Foxs (Foxes?!) but it doesn't seem that weird here - although I live in a small market town that is quite traditional in a lot of ways (and pretty working/lower middle-class) we have a hippie streak too, so I know Shilah, Purdy, Aneurin, Lavender, Lux, Artemis, Katell, and Domino.

Fox is an old English name; it’s been in use since 1600ish I think.

Berry. At first I thought it quite odd, but its definitely grown on me!

I also know a baby Garry. That’s weirdly jarring.

I know a baby Dustin, my brain always wants to say dustbin. Justin would have been so much better.

Not babies, but I recently met young lads Gilbert and Edwin.

Probably the most unusual has been Phoenix, which isn't incredibly unusual, but the most unusual I know personally.

I call my baby ‘Roo’ as a nickname, a woman heard me and started excitedly telling me her grandchild is also Roo - she said she wasn’t sure on it at first but is glad to hear I’ve got a Roo too as it must not be as strange as she first thought. She was worried about child being bullied etc

I couldn’t tell her my son is actually called Rowan…

I also met a baby Gary. Glad it's back!
