Which would you choose?

Polly
I like both though and Orlaith

IANAL · 11/06/2022 16:38

I have a Polly - an adult now - and she loves her name and we still love it. However, judging by the number of threads I've said this on lately, it's about to get seriously popular.

xmasaries · 11/06/2022 16:41

I prefer Polly of the two

toastofthetown · 11/06/2022 16:45

Polly. More unusual and one of my favourite names.

cakebytheoceon · 11/06/2022 16:46

Absolutely love polly x

MrsMidgeMaisel · 11/06/2022 16:46

I've just had a DD three months ago and named her Polly so maybe I'm slightly biased Wink

DandelionPocket · 11/06/2022 16:52

Love the name Orla.

LovelyTeePee · 11/06/2022 16:53

Orla

Nap1983 · 11/06/2022 16:53

Orla for me 100% lots of nice spellings of it too

topshotta · 11/06/2022 18:05

orla

853ax · 11/06/2022 18:14

Polly

NicolasSarkozysCumDumpster · 11/06/2022 18:18

Orla, my best friends called that

PoemBeatrice · 11/06/2022 18:28

I like Polina, but if that's not an option, I pick Orla - this spelling. Orla is nice, but I'm not fan of short names.

JenniferBarkley · 11/06/2022 18:44

Not a massive fan of Polly but it's nice enough.

Orla I like but only when people pronounce the R. If you or family or locals will pronounce it Awla I'd steer clear.

ChagSameachDoreen · 11/06/2022 19:38

Orla.

Polly is a doll's name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 12/06/2022 14:05

As a full name Orla, although prefer Oona

Polly is a sweet nn but she might not appreciate it as an adult. It’s traditionally a diminutive of Mary, so you could go for Marianne, Maryam or Maria nn Polly

KirstenBlest · 13/06/2022 09:12

Polly.
It's fine as a standalone name and using it as a nn for Marianne/Maryam/Maria is ridiculous

Junglejanie · 13/06/2022 09:32

Orla

Chaoslatte · 13/06/2022 09:39

Polly! I think it’s lovely and so underused. Orla is too trendy at the moment.

SpaceJamtart · 13/06/2022 09:46

I'd use Orla

Polly put the kettle on, Aunt Polly, Polly Pocket, Oh Polly, Polly insurance, Polygamy

KirstenBlest · 13/06/2022 10:01

I agree with @Chaoslatte . I think Orla is quite nice if you have a rhotic accent but it's nothingy otherwise and just blends in with the vowelly names with l or v in

Moonshine160 · 13/06/2022 10:16

Both beautiful names. But agree with PP, if you live in an area where the accent will mean Orla sounds like “Awla” then I’d go with Polly.

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/06/2022 08:39

Polly!
