Greek names for baby boy

maisieandvicks · 11/06/2022 09:26

I am currently 6 months pregnant with my third child. We are having a boy and I am extremely excited as we currently have two girls.

Both of our girls have traditional Greek names.

Any ideas for any traditional Greek names for a boy would be welcomed!

Felix.

Isn’t this Latin?

In my experience, the majority of Greek men seem to be called either George or Michael.

FloorWipes · 11/06/2022 12:58

OP do you want the actual Greek form of the name or just names that have a Greek origin?

prettybird · 11/06/2022 12:58

Xander or Alexander
Andreas
Hector
Jason
Niko or Nicolas
Philip
Atticus

Are either of your girls Alexandra? If not, Alexander.

Define traditional- do you mean ancient or mainstream/common?
Could you give us your dds' names to get an idea?

Not really comfortable giving my DD’s names, sorry about that.

I mean traditional as in mainstream, rather than ancient.

Thank you for all replies so far, very helpful.

I’m pretty sure Michail is Greek, pronounced Meek- Ail. Thanos could be another suggestion but possibly a bit Marvel!

I love the name Thanos but as you said, a bit Marvel 😅

DH suggested Michalis. What do you think?

Michail is the "official" name and Michalis the "day-to-day" name, so they're the one and same name.

SKG2007 · 11/06/2022 13:06

Thanos is short for Athanasios.

I see, thank you for clarifying this. You learn something new everyday, as they say!

itssquidstella · 11/06/2022 13:11

Achilleas
Constantine (Konstantinos)
Orestis

NeedToKnow101 · 11/06/2022 13:12

Yanis
Georgos
Charalambos (shortened to Charlie)

GreenTurtles · 11/06/2022 13:14

Elias?

FloorWipes · 11/06/2022 13:18

Are you Greek because some of these names would otherwise be kind of harsh on the child! 😅

Most Greek names tend to get shortened in the UK tbh.
