Arushi or Roshni?

Arushi has two spellings, Arushi and Aroushi, it’s pronounced A-roo-shee. Which spelling is better?

And which name do you prefer?

I'm not familiar with either name but I really like Arushi, it rolls off the tongue nicely

Helllooo · 10/06/2022 10:41

Arushi

Fraaahnces · 10/06/2022 10:43

Not helpful, but I really like them both… Looking from as many angles as I can, maybe Roshni seems less likely to inspire idiots to prounounce it weirdly when they’re being twats!

SabrePrattler · 10/06/2022 10:48

I think I like Arushi and Roshni equally.

I’d avoid the Aroushi spelling as I don’t think most people would guess it has an a-roo-shee pronunciation, plus it looked a bit like arouse. Might be a pain for her from pervy types when she’s older.

I think they are both lovely, would pick Roshni if I had to choose.

JellyBellyNelly · 10/06/2022 11:02

They’re both beautiful names and either would be perfect but I think I’d go for Roshni.

Wallabyone · 10/06/2022 11:34

I prefer Roshni 😊

GreatCuppa · 10/06/2022 12:23

Arushi.

WeasilyPleased · 10/06/2022 23:28

Both lovely names. I think I slightly prefer Arushi.

DramaAlpaca · 10/06/2022 23:31

Both nice, go with the one that sounds best with the surname.

Chaoslatte · 10/06/2022 23:32

I love Roshni! Arushi keeps autocorrecting in my phone (and brain) to Arusha - a major city in Tanzania - which I think might end up being annoying.

ImStillMe · 10/06/2022 23:37

Roshni. Means light, right?

I love both of these so much. I just love the sound of them. Either spelling is nice.

I have a very different consideration for you. I have a name towards the end of the alphabet. I do think there can be some advantages with having a name more at the beginning of the alphabet especially as they don't use surnames to sort online lists so much now. I'll give you an example. I'm on various lists for freelance work. I have an early alphabet surname. I used to get a lot of enquiries as I think I'm one of the first few pages to come up on that list. Now people tend to list more by first name and on those lists people have to click on slow-loading page after downloading page. I actually think someone should maybe think about this or maybe have more randomised listing with a search for name if you need as it really disadvantages some people through no fault of their own. With so many a and e names now it might be a tiny extra consideration to take into account. I think Roshni is absolutely lovely but Arusha or Aroushi is lovely as well so maybe just a little extra thought. Of course how people do lists might be totally different by the time it's an issue!

I think Roshni sounds beautiful!
