Hello! We are expecting a baby girl in September and have managed to narrow down our name list to the following:

Oona (we prefer it spelled like this vs Oonagh/Una)
Ophelia
Audrey
Claudia
Isla (wonder if this is too common? Commonality didn’t really bother me with the boys names but is something I wanted to avoid with the girls for some reason!)
Clara (think I prefer this as a middle name maybe but not certain. I love the nutcracker connection)
Eloise

We already have an Arabella, George, Charles and Aurora.

I’m unsure about Audrey as we’d have three with the same initials but I suppose if we’ve already got 2, will it matter?

My favourites are Oona and Ophelia as I love the letter O

wow, baby number 5 - congratulations!

I really like Oona. I also like Isla and Claudia.

Ophelia goes well with your other children's names but I'm not keen on it at all - a bit of a mouthful. I also find Eloise a bit of a mouthful for some reason.

Clara is a pretty name but I don't like it and I'm not sure why! I really like Cara though.

I think Audrey seems a bit 'plain' compared to your other daughter's names.

If you like O names -
Ottilie
Orla
Octavia
Olive/Olivia

KylieCharlene · 09/06/2022 09:49

Love Ophelia.

PoemBeatrice · 09/06/2022 10:05

it's fine for you to broke the trend, you don't need to pick another A name.
I like Claudia, Clara & Eloise
Maybe Eloise Clara?
Arabella, George, Charles, Aurora &
Louise
Emmeline
Eleanor
Winifred
Phoebe
Beatrice
Christina
Cecily
Alena
Anya
Anastasia
Helena
Sabrina

My favourite on your list is Eloise but I think Ophelia goes best with your children's names (agree with a PP that Octavia would be even better).

DeirdreSpin · 09/06/2022 11:21

I'm not sure I'd automatically pronounce oona correctly. Although I'm Irish so una/Oonagh would be what I'm used to and probably because of that I'd pronounce your version oh-nah as I've never seen it before.

For O names I always thought Olive was nice. Ottie, and Ophelia too.

ashitghost · 09/06/2022 11:26

I like Ophelia but I think it very much depends on your surname. It sounds like “a feel of your” so if you have a surname that is a noun or can sound anywhere close to suggestive I would stay well clear.

I really don’t like Oona at all, whatever the spelling. It sounds ridiculous.

I like Claudia best from your list.

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/06/2022 19:46

Oona - I know a baby Oona. This spelling. I really like it

Ophelia - not a fan

Audrey - pretty but not my favourite

Claudia - pretty and uncommon

Isla - I find it very meh as they are everywhere

Clara - I like it, but I think it's just about to explode in popularity

Eloise - not a fan

bridgetreilly · 09/06/2022 19:59

Claudia or Clara by miles.

SE13Mummy · 09/06/2022 22:02

I'd choose Eloise from your list. Your boys have very traditional, sturdy names whereas your girls' names are much more frilly. I'd look for a name that didn't end with an 'uh' or 'ee' sound, hence my preference.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/06/2022 22:03

Oona is wonderful, and agree best spelling
Claudia very elegant and strong

Clara is pretty but quite slight
Audrey is Ok

Ophelia is too tragic - Octavia or Odessa?
Isla is way overused
Eloise one of a zillion El names

Adela, Cassia, Iona, Estella, Aphra, Ida, Astra might be others

SpaceJamtart · 09/06/2022 22:09

I love Clara, Claudia and Eloise

Clara reminds me of the nutcraker too and its a lovely name, I knew one Eloise at school and everyone thought it was very cool when we worked out you could write her name upside down in a calculator 351073

Mumofgirls2017 · 09/06/2022 22:31

Eloise or Clara esp with your others

PepaCatrigal · 26/07/2022 16:45

No offence, but Oona seems a bit... clunky. If you like the letter O how about Olive, or Orchid, or Orla.

PepaCatrigal · 26/07/2022 16:48

P.S Claudia is my favourite. Good choices! Also your girls' names seem to be rather feminine, so what about Olivia. It can be shortened to Via, Liv, or Ollie.
