TTC and have some names that we like. Hoping to get some suggestions for others we may like and feedback if possible. We aren't discussing names with friends and family but wanted some wider views really.

Girls:
Cora
Nina
Fleur
Fern

Boys:
Joss
Austin
Frankie (not my fave though)

Our surname begins with a C and is two syllables. We would like the names to flow well together. We are probably going to use family names as middle names but aren't set on it.

Love Cora and Nina, and I like Fern too. Not keen on Fleur, it just doesn’t sound pleasant to my ears.

From your boys list I LOVE Joss.

Suggestions:
Flora
Sadie
Edie
Ada
Pearl

Joel
Jonah
Jasper
Coby
Seth

If the surname is something like Carter, Frankie doesn't flow, and he'll probably be Frank when older. If it is something like Charlton, it might be ok

@DuchessOfSausage I agree with you, I think that's why it's not my favourite as it just doesn't flow as well.

@bridgetreilly I love Lena and Leo but can't use Leo due to a friend having a little Leo this year

I really like Joss,, but be mindful that traditionally - Joss = female spelling; Jos = male spelling

10ksteps · 06/06/2022 16:57

We have a Jos at work and people are always referring to him as Josh. I suspect he's spent a fair amount of his life saying "no Jos, no h on the end".

DianaRossshair · 07/06/2022 14:25

If your surname is similar to Carter then I really like the single syllable names with it. Alternatively the ones ending in a consonant sound better with Carter eg Edith Carter sounds better than Lena Carter.

KirstenBlest · 07/06/2022 14:27

I know a male Joss, no idea if he's Joseph on his BC. I thought that Jos was an abbreviation, like Wm is short for William

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/06/2022 19:51

I like Fleur and Joss

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/06/2022 23:18

love Edith - v popular though
like Flora
Cora nice but if your surname is like Carter don’t think it goes
Lara is nice but it will blur with all the Lena/Lola/Leah/Lyra/Leila/Lila/Luna names
Fern and Faith ok - bit dull with your surname
Pearl ok, bit faddy
Nina very meh

Esther, Lois, Stella, Frances, Oona, Ida, Aphra, Elsbeth, Jocelyn, Ffion, Jasmine, Robin, Dora, Thora, Arran, Aislinn / Aisling, Lois, Verity, Felicity, Sylvie, Phoebe, Zara, Georgia, might be others

My friend just used the name Nina for her little girl and it’s gorgeous! Hadn’t heard it used in the last 50 years! I’m not as keen on your boys names, I think boys are harder. I love a short name

TempsPerdu · 11/06/2022 00:15

I really like Cora; it’s sweet and elegant, and not overly common. Fern is nice too, but I see it more as a middle name. Can’t warm to the sing-songy sound of Nina, and I don’t think Fleur sounds especially nice in a non-French accent.

Of your boys’ names I actually quite like Austin, but you have to be careful with surnames - Austin Carter for instance sounds like an investment bank! Joss is good too, but I’m really not a fan of Frankie.

I really like Joss but I'd use the full name, Josselin (can also be written Joscelin).
