Hi all, I love the name Hannah - both for its meaning and because it exists in multiple languages and cultures..but how would you spell it? Are there specific connotations with certain spellings? Hana it Hanna or Hannah? Thanks x

I'd just spell it Hannah

I've seen it ''Hanna'' recently but it was a sur name.

JuneJubilee · 05/06/2022 07:43

I'd go with Hannah. Personally I think it looks like you didnt know the 'correct' spelling if you use the others.

Lavender288 · 05/06/2022 07:44

My name is Hannah. Please don't spell it Hana!

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 05/06/2022 07:44

Who doesn't love a palindromic name?

idontevenknowanyonecalledblurb · 05/06/2022 07:45

From experience - spell it Hannah. Everyone will still spell it that way and she will have a lifetime of correcting it.

girlmom21 · 05/06/2022 07:45

Spell it as you normally would. Don't try and be 'unique' because it just looks wrong.

Twizbe · 05/06/2022 07:46

I think I'd pick the spelling that links to your culture. For me that would be Hannah but I've got a Muslim friend who used Hana.

DuneFan · 05/06/2022 07:47

I have a Japanese friend called Hana. Like Marie Kondo, it's apparently a traditional Japanese name that happens to have a Western equivalent.

Hannah is lovely for a baby and very traditional, unless you are aiming to reflect a specific heritage I'd use the Hannah spelling.

Dinoteeth · 05/06/2022 07:47

Hannah, it makes life easy

Rainbowqueeen · 05/06/2022 07:48

Like the way you did in the thread title unless you have a cultural reason to do it another way

kitcat15 · 05/06/2022 07:54

I prefer Hanna

Greatoutdoors · 05/06/2022 07:57

I agree with Hannah unless it’s culturally relevant to you to spell it another way.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 05/06/2022 07:59

I prefer Hannah because I like palindromes.

MagicTurtle · 05/06/2022 07:59

I think Hannah is the English spelling. I know a Hana from Eastern Europe.

captncrunch · 05/06/2022 08:08

I have a friend who is Hanna and she finds people constantly spell it Hannah. She has given up correcting she says!

Cornishmumofone · 05/06/2022 08:24

Hana is a Japanese name that means flower.

DuchessOfSausage · 05/06/2022 14:05

Hannah. I like that it's a palindrome

NiqueNique · 05/06/2022 14:09

Hannah - I like palindromes. I also think it’s the most elegant looking in English, it’s ‘softer’ round the edges.

WooNoodle · 05/06/2022 14:10

Hannah- it's perfect

Basilbrushgotfat · 05/06/2022 14:10

I know people who choose to re-spell their names Hana but personally I prefer Hannah :)

IStandWithMaya · 05/06/2022 14:11

Hannah - lovely name.

UrsulaPandress · 05/06/2022 14:12

I loves me a palindrome.

I know an Egyptian Hana.

blameitonthecaffeine · 05/06/2022 16:41

Might well be wrong, but I think:
Hannah - Hebrew and native English speakers
Hanna - Italian
Hana - Arabic and/or Islamic
