I would use fi fi as a nickname . Don't like Jenny even spelt geni !

Hummingbirdcake · 04/06/2022 12:20

Genevieve.

pinklavenders · 04/06/2022 12:21

Why not use the British version, Jennifer?

WaitinginVain · 04/06/2022 12:22

Genevieve, but I also think people might shorten to Jenny which I don't like.

I knew a Belgian Genevieve and it was pronounced differently. Jeune - vee - EV.
Which is interesting.

It’s the French pronunciation

i like Genevieve said either way.

Less keen on Guinevere, possibly because she always gets a hard time in the legends.

Gwendoline, Gwyneth both quite nice

Of the two names, I would pick Genevieve, it has a nicer sound. Guinevere, although it is interesting, unusual and literary, has quite a harsh sound and is so closely associated with the legend.

They're variants from the same name origin aren't they? As is Jennifer which I actually really like the most. People will trot out 'dated' for that though, as it was so popular a few decades ago, personally I think that's narrow minded. It's a lovely name and I like Jenny for short as well.

Jeune - vee - EV.

How else is Geneviève pronounced?

Je ne vee ev?

Pemba · 04/06/2022 18:37

In English, usually Genevieve is jenna-veev.

Justcashnosweets · 04/06/2022 18:41

Genevieve is lovely.

PeekAtYou · 04/06/2022 18:45

Genevieve sounds much nicer than Guinevere to my ears so definitely the former

numberthirtytwowindsorgardens · 04/06/2022 19:00

Guinevere! My guilty pleasure name. Use it for all those of us who weren't brave enough to!

whichaname · 04/06/2022 20:20

Guinevere is gorgeous! Genevieve might be easier to wear but im not keen on Gen. Guin is very cute though.

MrsMop1964 · 04/06/2022 20:27

If I met a Guinevere I'd think 'where's Lancelot?' but I wouldn't say it of course.I prefer Genevieve (but in my mind, it's the name of a car from the old film of the same name.)

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/06/2022 20:32

Ooo tough one. I prefer the full name Guinevere to Genevieve but I like that Genevieve is often shortened to Ginny.

Moosh18 · 06/06/2022 06:48

We have a one year old Guinevere - call her Guinny or Guin :)

anotherbrewplease · 06/06/2022 07:09

Lovely name
