My c-section is next week and we still don't have a boys name

Help us please! Smile I started a thread ages ago asking for help choosing between Eloise or Georgia for a girl, Eloise was the clear winner and DH and I have decided that's the one we're going with.

However, we don't know what we're having so I'd like to settle on a boys name, or at least have a short list by the time baby arrives (I know we have a bit of time before registering baby but still)

We like George and Sebastian, DH semi-jokingly suggested Felix and I actually really like it. He thinks it's slightly pretentious but I disagree.

So that's the short list so far: George, Sebastian, Felix. Our eldest is called Ruby.

What do we think of these names? Open to other suggestions please. Thanks

I hope all goes well with the c-section and you have a speedy recovery.
I'd say George if you were wanting Georgia but if you then had another girl would you regret it if you still wanted Georgia?! I do like Felix but makes me instantly think of the cat food advert! Sebastian is lovely if you aren't going to mind it probably being shortened to Seb. I love the name Nathaniel. Ihave an Ethan and Jacob.

I like all those names. George is my least favourite (but nothing wrong with it). If it were me I’d choose between Sebastian and Felix - I like them both equally. (Have known plenty of kids with both names over the years of my kids’ schooling. None particularly “posh” or pretentious).

Clairejay34 · 28/05/2022 23:54

I love Sebastian!

What about Casper? I think that has a similar vibe to Felix.

sunflowerdaisyrose · 29/05/2022 00:08

George (and Georgia) are lovely. I'm not a fan of Sebastian or Felix.

IggyAce · 29/05/2022 04:39

Sebastian gets my vote.
suggestions:
Nathaniel
Alexander

Felix and George are both great. You could use one of them as first name and the other as middle name.

James
Lawrence
Daniel
Matthew
Freddie
Theodore
Elliott
Gabriel
William
Aidan

I like George. I also like Felix and don't think it's pretentious at all! I do know a couple though which puts me off.

bertieb7 · 29/05/2022 06:50

I love the name Felix, it's my favourite of the list!

Skelligsfeathers · 29/05/2022 06:55

George is great.
I don't like Felix and am less keen on Sebastian which invariably gets shortened to Seb or Sebby.

I always suggest Alexander because it is SUCH a great name. Elegant and traditional with loads of good nicknames.
George Alexander or Alexander George are fab.

Cocowatermelon · 29/05/2022 06:57

I really like both Sebastian and Felix! I’m not such a fan of George.

newbiename · 29/05/2022 07:31

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/05/2022 07:41

frederick

Basketet · 29/05/2022 07:47

I'm not one of poncy names. I can't imagine an on old/older man named Felix or Seb, and George is unoriginal.

Imo, name choice really does reflect level of freethinking, revealing either individuality or mediocrity.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 29/05/2022 07:49

I love all your names! I'd pick Sebastian. Funnily enough, George and Felix have been on my shortlists before (I have 3 boys) although I didn't go for them as friends due before me went for the names first. I still love them though!

odey9621 · 29/05/2022 08:33

I love Felix!! Good luck with your c section mine is a week tomorrow! Xx

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/05/2022 09:58

Hope all goes well.

Eloise is lovely. I don’t love Felix but it goes with Ruby, which Sebastian doesn’t, and George, while great, is so overused.

So I’d say Felix or… Milo, Jethro, Max, Franklin nn Frank, Jonathan, Laurence nn Laurie, Nicholas nn Nico.

user3199 · 29/05/2022 15:01

My partner is a Seb in his late 40s - only called Sebastien by his mum these days. I think it's almost inevitable that Sebastien will be shortened to Seb. But I think it's a lovely name. He is of French descent - hence the 'en'. The German spelling is with 'an' at the end. In both those countries, and others, I think it's a fairly common name.

I have met a few toddler Felixs so I think it's becoming more popular and losing its cat food association maybe?

I don't like George at all but that's just me, there's nothing wrong with it.

Others you may like;

Casper
Otto
Nicholas
Matthew
Alexander
Nathan
Max
Daniel
Asher
Oliver

sageandbasil · 29/05/2022 21:35

I love Felix. Not pretentious at all

WhatDoIDoNow3 · 30/05/2022 01:23

I like sebastian there's alot of name options, here are other suggestions
Nicholas
Sidney
Charlie
Christopher
Teddy
Alfie

pinklavenders · 30/05/2022 07:50

Ruby and George!

I don't like Felix as it's a well known brand of cat food in the UK. And while Sebastian is ok, it will probably end up as Seb/Basty which aren't nice.

Louise0701 · 30/05/2022 07:55

Felix isn’t pretentious; it just makes me instantly think of cats.
George is the best one of the 3. Ruby & George sound lovely together.
