Ada, Rosa or Lily?

Ada, Rosa or Lily for DC2? We have a one syllable surname. Always loved Lily but the popularity is putting us off a bit. Any other suggestions also welcome!

I'd choose Lily, popular or not. It's so simple and pretty.

Rosa would be my next choice.

Suggestion: Lucy

AnElegantChaos · 27/05/2022 21:15

They're all lovely, but I really, really like Ada.

fortheloveofcheesecake · 27/05/2022 21:25

Ada. My favourite name.

MissPocket · 27/05/2022 21:30

I love Rosa.

DotDotDotDotDot · 27/05/2022 21:33

Rosa is gorgeous. Lily is nice too but I agree with you it’s so popular now. Ada seems a bit dowdy compared to the other choices.

DurdleSnore · 27/05/2022 21:37

They are all lovely but I think Rosa edges it for me.

AdaColeman · 27/05/2022 21:44

Ada of course! Smile

SallyWD · 27/05/2022 21:51

I don't like Ada but I love Ida. I also love Rosa and Lily.

hoomaeyya · 27/05/2022 21:58

Rosa

orangetriangle · 27/05/2022 21:59

Lily

lalaley · 27/05/2022 22:07

I think lily is nicest Smile

User6761 · 27/05/2022 22:31

I loved Adah (that spelling) when I first came across it about 20 years ago in a book. I still like it now as either Ada or Adah.

Rosa is nice but I prefer Rose.

There's nothing wrong with Lily at all but it just doesn't really do anything for me.

My current favourite flower name is Iris.

IStandWithMaya · 27/05/2022 23:00

All lovely names OP. My order of favourite is:

Rosa
Lily
Ada

Cloud16 · 28/05/2022 01:16

Rose and Lily are equally lovely.

Ada is fine but might be shortened to Ad or Ads like 'aid/aids' which puts me off.

Imsittinginthekitchensink · 28/05/2022 01:31

I really, really do not like Ada, as a pp said, it's such a dowdy old lady name. However, I have 2 in my nursery class currently, so it's clearly having a bizarre resurgence.

CharlieBoo · 28/05/2022 10:21

Lily is lovely but I know so many, it kind of ruins its specialness iykwim! It’s become a bit bland.

Rosa is lovely too

Really like Ada x

DuchessOfSausage · 28/05/2022 11:27

Lily is the nicest but it's been too popular for too long, Rosa is nice, and I don't like Ada.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 28/05/2022 11:27

Not Lily.

Rosa

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/05/2022 16:49

Rosa, they are all three overused but it’s the nicest and most classic. Lily is wet and Ada harsh IMO.

Adela, Rosanna, Ida, Cecily, Verity, Stella, Esther, Lois, Zara might be other options

Moonshine160 · 28/05/2022 21:08

Thanks everyone. Surname is Young. I do love the name Ada but think Ada Young sounds a bit harsh? Whereas a softer sounding name like Rosa or Lily might suit it better. Arghhh I just don’t know!

Rosa - feminine but strong

PleaseYourselfandEatTheCrusts · 28/05/2022 21:37

Rosa is lovely. Lily is too but she'll probably end up being Lily Y at school.
