Would love your thoughts on Marina or Sophie as a sibling for Alice and Henry. Thank you!

Sophie. Marina just reminds me of lots of boats bobbing about. Sophie sounds perfect with Alice and Henry.

pitterypattery00 · 22/05/2022 22:52

I prefer Marina, have only ever met one before (at school - she would now be in her early 40s). Sophie is arguably more similar in style to your other children's names but I don't think that really matters.

CambsAlways · 22/05/2022 22:54

Sophie everytime lovely name

pinklavenders · 22/05/2022 22:54

Sophie fits better with your other two, but it's a little dull from overuse.

I love Marina - beautiful and memorable!

Petal7 · 22/05/2022 23:29

Sophie. Beautiful and classic.

TabithaTittlemouse · 22/05/2022 23:30

Marina is awful

Firebird83 · 22/05/2022 23:30

Marina is beautiful

Snowiscold · 22/05/2022 23:32

Both are good but I love Marina - such a stylish, international name. Sophie also is rather international but it doesn’t have the glamour that Marina does.

BundtCake · 22/05/2022 23:33

Marina is unique, classy and beautiful. Sophie is so common in comparison.

ofwarren · 22/05/2022 23:33

Sophie "goes" better with your other names.

MsTSwift · 22/05/2022 23:35

Marina! Sophie is soooo dull and over used. Plus always felt like the word “soppy” to me so never understood the popularity

Sophie goes better with the others but is so common atm and a bit boring. Marina is lovely to me but more glamorous than your other names

Pieceofpurplesky · 22/05/2022 23:50

Marnie.
A
Mixture of both

DramaAlpaca · 22/05/2022 23:53

I love both, so I'm not much help.

I probably would only choose Marina if I lived inland. It would raise eyebrows where I live, close to open water.

Leopardspot · 22/05/2022 23:54

Thanks all! This is exactly our conundrum.. Sophie is classic and pretty, and does go well with the other names, but it is overused and popular and worried it is a bit dull / less 'exciting'. Marina has more zing for us and has that beautiful / glamourous feel. But it also doesn't roll off the tongue as easily. Hard to decide!

I love Marina.

Mumwantingtogetitright · 22/05/2022 23:56

I don't like Marina. Sophie is beautiful.

hearmywomanlyroar · 23/05/2022 00:01

I'm a big fan of Marina. Sophie is nice too but not as special IMHO.

peaceinourtime · 23/05/2022 00:22

Marina is nice, I had read it as character in books years before I met one.

ChagSameachDoreen · 23/05/2022 07:14

Marina.

Sophie is so common. It sounds spongy, and looks unfinished. I can't fathom why it's so enduringly popular.

Honaloulou · 23/05/2022 07:16

Marina. I knew one when little and never made the boat connection - it’s hardly a day to day word for little ones.

Sophie is so dull!

WimpoleHat · 23/05/2022 07:20

I knew a (French) lady called Marina; I like it. Think I prefer Sophie, though - it goes better with the rest of the family.

notreadyforthisgelatinousbooty · 23/05/2022 08:55

I prefer Marina. For me it's more appealing since it's the kind of name you don't hear everyday. It reminds me of Marina and the Diamonds. I'm aware of the word "marina", but at the same time it's a well-known name and I don't see the word as being a strong reason for teasing. Sophie is a nice name but has been very popular for a long time.

Electrox · 23/05/2022 09:01

They are both lovely names. Would you consider Sophia as an alternative?
