I think Horatia is dashing, Harriet is pretty. I prefer Horatia but it's a bit of a brave choice.

No not Horatia
It's awful
Harriet is sweet but will become Hattie.

Lolliepoppie · 22/05/2022 21:43

I absolutely LOVE the name Horatia.

BeatricePortinari · 22/05/2022 21:48

Horatia is just wonderful.

Strong, classic, unusual. I love it.

It will be divisive though and remember the reactions you'll get here will be different to those when there's a lovely girl and it's her name.

they'll always be a 'gosh' reaction as it is unusual but over time it will be her wonderful strong name which belongs to hear.

I'd love to be called Horatia.

Harriet is nice.

Spinningaround18 · 22/05/2022 21:50

Oh dear lord, don’t do that to a child, Horatia is horrendous!!

Topseyt123 · 22/05/2022 21:50

Harriet is nice. Horatia is absolutely horrendous.

AdaColeman · 22/05/2022 21:54

Horatia is a glorious name, full of verve, I love it!
In comparison, Harriet is nice if a little dull.

Snowiscold · 22/05/2022 21:54

Harriet - and I don’t even like Harriet.

LosingTheWill2022 · 22/05/2022 22:09

Horatia and Harriet are so different I'm surprised it's a choice between those 2 names. Surely there's something less horsey than Horatia and less 'standard' than Harriet

TrufflesForBreakfast · 22/05/2022 22:20

Horatia sounds like a medical condition.

RishiRich · 22/05/2022 22:25

Everyone hated Horace when I floated that too and suggested Horatio 🤷🏼‍♀️

High 5 to the fellow likers of Horatia! It definitely doesn't start with 'whore'. It's HO-ray-SHE-ah. The Horatia in GH had a black monobrow and gambled a lot. I liked her!

Horatia!

Strong, beautiful, interesting.

I know lots of little Harriets currently!

IrisVersicolor · 22/05/2022 22:38

Deadringer · 22/05/2022 21:29

I simply cannot imagine looking at a tiny, gorgeous, squidgy, baby girl and saying lets call her Horatia. But hey, different strokes and all that.

You realise babies grow right.

IrisVersicolor · 22/05/2022 22:39

I quite like it.

Much better than Harriet.

Solasum · 22/05/2022 22:40

I believe in GH she was known as Horry?

Cluckycluck · 22/05/2022 22:43

I don't like Horatia, not keen on Harriet either. I do, however, like Hortensia.

User6761 · 22/05/2022 22:48

AllPlayedOut · 22/05/2022 20:47

Really?! I imagine her to be the kind of woman who owns the name and runs the board.

I just picture Miss Trunchbull(I know that her name was Agatha.)

I also thought miss trunchbull!!

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 22/05/2022 22:48

Horatia sounds like someone Bertie Wooster would get engaged to by accident.

pinklavenders · 22/05/2022 23:03

I really dislike Harriet - sounds so harsh.

Helena, Hortencia and even Horatia are nicer imo.

allboysherebutme · 23/05/2022 22:27

Harriet. X

Jeelypieces20storeys · 23/05/2022 22:34

Horatia just makes me think of Hiroshima. Horrid horatia.

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/05/2022 23:11

toastofthetown · 22/05/2022 20:50

Harriet. And I'm not a big fan of Harriet.

Yes, this.

Harriet is a bit dull though. How about Henrietta, Helena, Hermione or Hera?

I don't hate Horatia, it's just.. a lot.

ballstomonty · 23/05/2022 23:17

That’s Honoria, which is a fabulous name.

ballstomonty · 23/05/2022 23:19

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 22/05/2022 22:48

Horatia sounds like someone Bertie Wooster would get engaged to by accident.

Oops missed off the quote in my post, Bertie gets accidentally engaged to Honoria. Which is a great name could work as a middle ground op?

VeryQuaintIrene · 23/05/2022 23:19

Horatia is fab. Harriet is a bit tweedy.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 23/05/2022 23:19

I like Horatia but prefer Harriet. I also like Hermia.
