Picked a name but...

DP and I have picked a name for our baby girl however, Im suddenly having doubts thinking she won't come out looking like her name. I know that sounds stupid and it's probably hormones talking but what does everyone think of my backup list. Grace is the family middle name.

Jasmine
Edith
Jessica
Frankie
Ivy
Sarah

I love Jessica and Ivy, my least favourite is Frankie.

JosieK8 · 22/05/2022 20:07

It’s a good list, I prefer Jasmine, Edith and Ivy to the other three but they all fit well with Grace. Good luck!

Sexnotgender · 22/05/2022 20:08

Love Jasmine.

OfficeManagerFingersCrossed · 22/05/2022 20:09

I love Jasmine & Ivy x

DockOTheBay · 22/05/2022 20:09

I don't love Frankie but the rest are all nice. I would probably choose Jasmine or Edith.

Lilililili · 22/05/2022 20:12

I think you may be overthinking it. No baby is born looking like their name I don't think! It can definitely feel a bit odd at first. But over time they grow into their name! Just use a cute nickname for your newborn at first 😊

PoemBeatrice · 22/05/2022 20:25

You can google baby pictures to see how babies look at time of birth because bad expectation can set you on post partum depression.
I would say certain names do feel "for certain look", but that isn't rule you should measure names you're picking.

ElenaSt · 22/05/2022 20:26

I love all the names other than Frankie.

ofwarren · 22/05/2022 20:28

All good except Frankie

Penguinsaregreat · 22/05/2022 20:37

Frankie sounds more tomboyish to me, dark, straight hair in a bob and with attitude. Jasmine sounds like a darker skinned child.
I picture Jessica and Sarah as fair.
Edith is an older grey haired woman so is Ivy. Both were great aunts of mine.
Obviously other people will have different thoughts.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/05/2022 20:45

Not keen on Edith & Ivy.
Frankie ok for a nn, but personally think Francesca Grace is lovely.
Jasmine, Jessica & Sarah are nice.

Princessoftheuniverse · 22/05/2022 21:03

Jasmine is lovely.

User6761 · 22/05/2022 23:11

Dislike Frankie (I like Francesca and Frances much more). Your other names are nice.

ReadtheReviews · 22/05/2022 23:17

I know what you mean OP. I had Lillian picked but when dd2 was born she didn't look like a small featured, delicate 'lillian' she looks like a rosy bouncy thug baby. Luckily DP came up with something on the spot I thought was perfect.
I like Ivy, Edith and Sarah - I think there won't be many Sarahs around at the moment despite how classic it is. I know you don't want opinions on Grace, but you don't have to stick to tradition and keep it (after all, when did this start? 200 years ago? Or just three generations?), could always use the one you've picked first as a middle instead.

Firebird83 · 22/05/2022 23:19

I like Sarah and Jasmine

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/05/2022 23:26

She may not look like any of your back up names either.
If she comes out not looking like the name you've chosen chances are she'll probably come out with her own name written all over her. Its not unheard of for babies to name themselves.

Mumofgirls2017 · 23/05/2022 07:37

Edith and Ivy from your backup list. I think wait until she’s here. We didn’t go with the name we thought we would.

Riverlee · 23/05/2022 07:39

We changed our baby’s name after he was born because we felt he didn’t suit his planned name.

StageRage · 23/05/2022 07:46

I love Frankie, and one of my Ds’ would have been Frankie if a girl.

Great names, all.

KangarooKenny · 23/05/2022 07:47

Edith is the nicest from your list. If I were you I’d wait and see what she looks like.

DuchesOfSausage · 23/05/2022 08:16

Jasmine - like
Edith - don't like
Jessica - like
Frankie - don't like
Ivy - don't like
Sarah - like

I'd re-think the middle name. It might be a family middle name but it's also every other little girl's middle name.

Snowiscold · 23/05/2022 08:26

All are fine except Frankie, and I’m not keen on Ivy either, but it’s OK.

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/05/2022 00:14

I love Frances or Francesca nn Frankie but not as a full name
Sarah is lovely
Jessica great.

Jasmine is nice.

I love Edith and Ivy but both overused.

LowryLowry · 24/05/2022 10:12

Jasmine - love
Edith - old lady - Eden?
Jessica - ok, feels a bit 90s to me
Frankie - meh- bit of a nickname. Don't like Frances or Francesca.
Ivy - pretty but popular, prefer Iris
Sarah - very dull. Seren?

salharg · 24/05/2022 10:54

I love Frankie but as a nickname for Francesca
