Is this name to ‘out there’?

We’ve struggled with baby boy names and considering naming our baby if it’s a boy : ‘Reed’.
DH is American and more common there but we live in the UK.

The only Reed I can think of is the one from Fantastic Four.

I prefer Reid.

I'm not a fan. It's a surname to me.

My ds goes to school with a Reid - I've never thought it 'out there' but prefer the ei spelling.

It's a bit phallic ...

Only heard it as a surname and seen both Reid and Reed as surnames.

It's fine. Prefer the spelling Reid.

Really like it. But also prefer Reid, just because Reed seems a bit more fragile weedy.

Reid is more of a name to me (albeit a surname). Reed just makes me think of the plants in water.

I know a Reid and he said he hated his name at school as he got bullied over it in relation to toilet humour.

He had a lot of “Reid wee’d” type comments….

Reid wee’d his pants….
Reid wee’d his bed….
Reid wee’d himself….

……etc etc

Just your usual childhood silliness.

He loves his name now as an adult but he found the teasing difficult to manage during school years.

Reid looks better. Reed makes me think 'reed thin' kinda scrawny.

We had Reid on our short list (prefer this spelling!) I also loved Gray

There are worse names, but it just makes me think of something weak and without strength -bends like a reed, etc.

Reminds me of the names Dean, and Rhys.
