Too Matchy?

Hi all!
I am due to have a baby boy in a couple of weeks. DH has decided he really likes the name Joel however my name is Nicole.
Question is, is this too matchy?
"Nicole and Joel are sleeping".
"Nicole has taken Joel to town".
What do you think? Honest opinions appreciated!
Thank you! :)

Yes, quite matchy. How about - Nicole and Noel? Ha ha, no.
Nicole and William
Nicole and Fraser
Nicole and Charles
Nicole and Joe

I doesn't matter how parents and child names are similar because they would have been said together in sentence very rarely.

You’ll find yourself referred to constantly as mummy anyway! So don’t worry about that! I like Joel v much!

Absolutely fine, most of the time you'll just be mummy. If it were siblings I'd say yes too matchy.
ExtraordinaryBehaviour · 11/05/2022 08:48
Agree, it will be mummy and Joel, then mum and Joel
DoodleBelle · 11/05/2022 08:51
Absolutely fine and yes you will be Mummy anyway

I love Joel!
As others have said you'll rarely be referred to just as a pair by first names - if it makes you feel better, my husband is will and we have a daughter called Grace.
It was the start of lockdown so we didn't go anywhere for months where I was introducing them and had to say "will and grace" so it was too late by the time I noticed!
We had done all the potential "does it sound funny with the surname / is it rude with initials" stuff but never our names together!
I just make sure I put my name in the middle when signing family cards

Absolutely fine

Joel is lovely. I don’t think it’s too matchy at all.

Welcome to losing your name. You are no longer Nicole. You are mummy and variations there of (yes even with your DH and family too!)
Joel is lovely.
