Kit - Middle name meaning

I am looking for a middle name for DS due this July.

It came up on a list of names meaning 'hope' but I can't really find anything to back this up. Does anyone know?

We have lost 3 babies and want something that means hope/ strength/ joy/ similar. If it was a girl I was going to go with Iris.

First name will most likely be Pádraig. I like Benedict too, we are RC but not very good ones, seems a little popish maybe.

I only know it as short for Christopher which is bearer of Christ.

ABrotherWhoLooksLikeHellMugYou · 03/05/2022 15:12

Or Christian, which is even more obvious

Irishfarmer · 03/05/2022 15:50

@ArnoldBee ya I've only ever heard of it it as a nn for Christopher too. It was one of those lists which I'm not sure I put much faith into

Never heard of Kit meaning that! It’s short for Christopher usually isn’t it? Not sure it has a meaning by itself.

How about Felix, Reuben or Isaac for a lovely meaning?

Dylan - a ray of hope
Jonah - dove (a symbol of hope)
Aaron - mountain of strength
Connell - strong wolf
Gabriel - my strength is God

Benedict would be a potential MN not 1st name.

I really like some of those suggestion

Benedict is lovely. As is the similar-meaning Theodore.

ButterRose · 06/05/2022 04:59

I like Benedict and I've only ever heard of Kit as a nn for Christian

pinklavenders · 06/05/2022 08:13

I've only ever heard Kit as 'sports kit' or 'take your kit off'. Possibly a nickname for Kitty or Christopher?

Kit, also spelt Kitt, is a name in itself, though is also a nickname for Christian or Christopher. It's become really popular last couple years.

I love Patraig.
And I love the reasoning for the middle name.

Padraig Sean
Padraig John

God is gracious.

Padraig, I meant. Sorry for the typo.
