Alfie, Freddie or Charlie?

After much discussion I think these are our top 3 for our baby boy due later this year. We would likely put Alfred on the birth certificate for Alfie, either Alfred or Frederick for Freddie, I’m not keen on Charles but my husband would probably insist on it for Charlie on the BC.

I know they are all very popular/done a million times etc, but honestly we find boys names so, so hard.

So, of the three, which is your favourite? Thanks!

Honestly, I don't like any, they're all twee, overdone and will date badly.

I agree they will probably date, two friends have recently had baby boys - one called Freddie the other Charlie. 'ie' and 'y' ending boys names are so popular at the moment. They aren't my cup of tea but a lot of people obviously like them.

Having a name that dates you to a certain era isn't necessarily a bad thing though. Me and most of my friends have names that were much much more popular when we were born in the 70s/80s than now (names like Lynsey, Donna, Jennifer, Fiona, Mark, Steven etc). I'd say most of us are happy enough with our names. There was a girl with a really unusual name in my year at school - she didn't like it cause it was 'different' - it was Olivia!

So I guess what I'm trying to say OP is to choose a name you genuinely love. None of your suggestions are bad in any way.

Agree.

I like them all - my great-grandmas name choices for her offspring are all back. She had an Alfie, a Charlie and a Reggie.

I like Franklin (Frankie) too.

I’m not sure my 80 year old grandad Charlie would agree with this!
