So I love the written name Morris for our son and the shortenings Mossie or Moss... But as soon as I said it out loud to my husband I heard 'Maurice' and have totally gone off the name now . Any suggestions of similar names/names containing morris (don't love Morrison or Morrissey sadly, Amos is a possible... ) That's as far as I've got, I need ideas please !

I know a Moss who's just Moss. But Amos or Moses are good names, and FAR nicer than dusty old Morris.

Mossie though is very 'red faced 75 yr old Irish farmer at the mart in his jumper and blazer'.

Maurice is pronounced Morris in the UK. It’s just how it’s spelt as a first name. (The Mau-Reece pronunciation is from Southern US.)

I quite like it and would go with that, but I guess Ernest, Arnold, Cedric are similarly 1920s/30s names, or Linus, Jonas, Silas have a similar sound.
