Have been checking this page recently for inspiration so thought I could gage a reaction myself.
We have a girls names sorted but just haven't felt quite the connection to any boys names.
Baby due end of July and we are not finding out the gender but it makes me want to find out to possibly save having to find a boys names we both like!

So this is the current names
Oscar
Reuben
Patrick
Rupert

Patrick

Oscar - not keen
Reuben - not keen, seems a bit wet and gets misspelt, blends in with all the Romans, Rowans, Rorys, Rufuses...
Patrick - not too popular, suits all ages, works in other countries (Ireland, France, etc)
Rupert - not keen, the bear

Newuser82 · 18/04/2022 19:31

I love Rupert. I liked that for our son but my husband wasn't keen. I like Oscar but it's fairly popular so depends if that bothers you. Reuben and Patrick not so much.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/04/2022 19:34

Rupert

Patrick but can’t stand Pat
Oscar
Reuben

toastofthetown · 18/04/2022 19:35

Oscar - it's ok, feels a bit tired now
Reuben - not my favourite, but very popular right now
Patrick - love Patrick, works well internationally, lots of nickname options
Rupert - really like Rupert

Fivebeanchilli · 18/04/2022 19:37

Oscar - nice. Very popular but for a good reason.
Reuben - lovely but the inability of about 50% of the population to spell it (Rueben?!) would absolutely put me off
Patrick - ok. A bit dull
Rupert - gorgeous.

IggyAce · 18/04/2022 19:39

Oscar- ok but popular
Reuben - not keen and again popular
Patrick - like, don’t come across many.
Rupert - like and it’s unusual.

Mumofgirls2017 · 18/04/2022 22:21

Oscar- so many in my area but fine
Reuben- sandwich
Patrick- I like it, some will say dated
Rupert- I love it, some will say wet or posh

Gynaesaur · 18/04/2022 22:38

The only one I really like is Patrick.
Not keen on Oscar or Reuben, but don't know any Reuben's if popularity is something you're worried about.

Really, really don't like Rupert, but know that it's popular on here. IMO- extremely posh, doesn't suit anyone between the ages of 2-65, Rupert Murdoch, Rupert Bear, would categorise similarly to Nigel.

Pushing30 · 18/04/2022 22:42

WeasilyPleased · 18/04/2022 22:46

Oscar. Like but v popular.
Reuben. Same.
Patrick. Cute. I love Paddy.
Rupert. Not keen at all.

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/04/2022 22:52

Patrick 💯 massively due a revival.

Reuben is great but way too many of them. Oscar is nice enough but way too many. Not a fan of Rupert.

Gosling33 · 19/04/2022 21:55

Thanks everyone. I know it's our decision but it's interesting just to get other peoples honest thoughts. Definitely helped x

Reuben is in m top ten!

Camomila · 19/04/2022 22:36

Reuben is my favourite but I also like Rupert and Patrick.

I'm not a fan of Oscar personally but it's ok.

Irishfarmer · 20/04/2022 11:15

Patrick - Is my fav, I am bias we are prob going with Pádraig for DS
Oscar - I really like that name too
Rupert - I like it, cute/ cheeky fun l
Reuben - my least fav but not bad.

RiverRats · 20/04/2022 11:26

Patrick is gorgeous. It’s a name that everyone knows but it isn’t used much with younger kids (where I’m from at least). Oscar and Reuben are quite popular. Rupert feels a bit too trendy for me.

ApolloandDaphne · 20/04/2022 11:31

Oscar: Like this
Reuben: Also like this
Patrick: Don't like at all
Rupert: Name of DDs cat.

flipflopping · 20/04/2022 11:41

I like them all- Oscar the least as it's too popular. Patrick is the best.
