Ways to honour the family name Drusilla

Hi all,

Finally have narrowed down Baby 3's name to 2 choices per gender (gender is a surprise!) but if baby is a girl I would like to incorporate my Grammas name Drusilla as she is sadly no longer with us.

The name choices for a girl would be Ivy or Isla. For a bit more context my Gramma was known as Dru, pronounced droo.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this? X

Surely there is only one way to 'honour' it, and that is to include it as a middle name, in full.

Andacherryonthetop · 16/04/2022 17:54

Isla Drew sounds quite cool as does ivy Drew

TenThousandSpoons · 16/04/2022 17:55

Drew. Obvs.
Works for boy or girl.

scandihouse · 16/04/2022 17:55

Ivy Drusilla is nice. My dd has my grandma's name as her middle name - not a name I would have chosen otherwise but it's grown on me and nobody even knows anyway

TurquoiseSwirl · 16/04/2022 17:55

@Andacherryonthetop

Isla Drew sounds quite cool as does ivy Drew
This is what I was going to say
SirChenjins · 16/04/2022 17:56

Why can’t you just use Drusilla as a middle name Confused

Yourgirlfriendrachel · 16/04/2022 17:56

@Andacherryonthetop

Isla Drew sounds quite cool as does ivy Drew
I agree, Ivy Drew/Dru is nice.
Leggingslife · 16/04/2022 17:57

Ivy Drew is good.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 16/04/2022 17:57

Drusilla as her middle name.

BeinBedEarly · 16/04/2022 17:58

Just make Drusilla her first or middle name. Not rocket science.

FrankGrillosFloof · 16/04/2022 17:58

Cilla Dru

mum1993 · 16/04/2022 17:59

Sorry! In my haste to post I forgot to say I wanted to use it in some form as a middle spot. Wasn't sure whether to go full name as it's a very old fashioned name or to shorten it!

Apologies again!

Just make it a middle name. No one ever knows middle names - except at birth, marriage and departure.

TeenPlusCat · 16/04/2022 18:00

It doesn't 'honour' someone to use a name that is different to theirs, even if it sounds similar. You are either all in, or not.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 16/04/2022 18:02

Frankly, Drusilla is pretty effin cool and by the time she is a teenager she'll be rockin' that name. Seriously. She'll probably never know another Drusilla. Children with interesting names are destined for greatness!! Call her Drusilla.

For a boy Drew works. Not so cool. Not gonna lie.

Snog · 16/04/2022 18:25

I agree it's a mega cool name go for it as a first name

GoodSoup · 16/04/2022 18:34

Just use it as a middle name!

I have to disagree about it being cool though.

Ilovenutellaaaaa · 16/04/2022 18:38

Give it as a first name op, didn't there used to be a character called Drusilla in the kids TV show the worst witch?

scottishnames · 16/04/2022 18:50

As others have said, Drusilla is awesome.

For heaven's sake not 'Drew' for a girl. That's the second half of Andrew which, as we all know, literally means 'manly'.

GoodSoup · 16/04/2022 18:58

Drusilla is the insane murderous vampire in Buffy, with the terrible accent.

Sapphirejane · 16/04/2022 19:01

Of course it honours the person if the name you choose is done so with that person in mind.

Sorry but Drusilla is not a pretty name. Drew is much nicer .

But she was great though and her back story was so sad Grin

She was also my gramma who passed before meeting my children. So this comment is completely unnecessary

Not to me, I think Drusilla is a lovely name.

Ijustreallywantacat · 16/04/2022 19:17

Name her Drusilla! That’s so cool.
