Thoughts on Noor for a girl? I think it's quite pretty

Love this!

jokalyn · 15/04/2022 02:58

Pronounced like 'door'?

Naz2009 · 15/04/2022 03:02

Arabic for light. I find Noor to be masculine for girl I like Nura or Nuri

KirstenBlest · 15/04/2022 16:47

Fairly popular but I wouldn't use it if I wasn't from an arab/muslim heritage.

Birnamwood · 15/04/2022 16:50

My local takeaway used to be called The Noor Tandoori so it'd be a no from me Grin

I'm sure there was a thread last week on Noor it was very positive results :)

amylou8 · 15/04/2022 17:19

I worked with an man named Noor, he had middle Eastern heritage. To me it's a male name.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 15/04/2022 17:26

Noor is so pretty & can be used for both girls & boys like Queen Noor of Jordan

BellsaRinging · 15/04/2022 17:28

I love it-soumds very regal.

Lavenderlid · 15/04/2022 17:35

In Scotland this would rhyme with an unfortunate derogatory word for a woman meaning prostitute. That would put me off, though I have known a couple of girls with the name, I assume their families did not hang around with the wee jakies I am thinking of who would tease her Grin

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/04/2022 19:56

Prefer Noura

WeasilyPleased · 15/04/2022 22:50

Sorry reminds me of soup Blush

My thoughts too!
Baileysoncereal · 16/04/2022 00:05

Sounds a bit like ‘no’ in some parts of the country

Noura is lovely too but as pp said I wouldn’t use it without Middle Eastern heritage

Justkeepon · 16/04/2022 00:10

It's a noor from me..sorry

AuntTwacky · 16/04/2022 00:11

Naah

Scirocco · 16/04/2022 17:44

I love it. It has a beautiful meaning, can be used for a girl or a boy, various spellings in English are available and there are options for names derived from it as well if you prefer them. It's a very elegant name imo.

GoodSoup · 16/04/2022 18:35

I think it’s lovely.

DrDetriment · 16/04/2022 19:13

It's awful. Sounds like someone saying no in a thick northern accent.

LemonViolet · 16/04/2022 19:16

Lovely, would assume Arabic heritage. Have only known as a female name.

peaceinourtime · 17/04/2022 10:48

I knew a Noor about seven years ago, she was in early twenties and lovely. She was also of Indian extraction if that's relevant.
