Camilla or Diana?

Genuinely I love both names…

Which name do you prefer?

And if one is picked, is the other destined to never be chosen for a future sister due to the royal family connotation… Or would it not matter..and Camilla and Diana are perfect matching sister names.

Thanks

Camilla has better nicknames in my opinion if this is something you want to consider

Greensleeves · 14/04/2022 23:23

They're both quite hoity-toity horsy names imo. I don't like either of them and think they would make a dreadful sibling set.

Kite22 · 14/04/2022 23:23

I think you'd raise a LOT of eyebrows if you used them together.

I think both of them are quite dated, but Camilla is probably edged into the 'older lady' names that lots of babies have been called over the last few years.

Diana - I suspect you'll need to leave another 20 years.

Scissor · 14/04/2022 23:29

Why not Katherine? Historically a few random spellings of the name have had chequered histories and it's working very well at the moment

thistimelastweek · 14/04/2022 23:31

Camilla & Diana wouldn't even be OK for names for sister puppies.

Individual names for baby girls? Maybe. But I haven't met one recently.

Bangendedscoots · 14/04/2022 23:33

Camilla but I prefer Camille personally!

I don't like the name Diana and I wouldn't use Camilla and Diana for sisters!

AllKnowingGerbil · 14/04/2022 23:37

I wouldn't use them together. The Camilla child might think you hated her.

Not sure which name I prefer. Maybe Diana feels less pretentious.

Branleuse · 14/04/2022 23:39

Diana I think is due a comeback.

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/04/2022 23:41

Diana, the huntress etc - it’s fairly glorious

Camilla is nice enough but slightly blah and there are too many Millys in the world.

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/04/2022 23:42

Defiantly not for sisters though - don’t be a loon.

DorritLittle · 14/04/2022 23:44

I quite like Camilla. I dislike Diana.

Together? Please don't OP!

Camilla is a beautiful name with lovely nick names.

I prefer Frances to Diana and it sounds much better paired with Camilla too.

KirstenBlest · 15/04/2022 14:31

Diana. Camilla will get called Cam, Cami(knickers) or Milly

toastofthetown · 15/04/2022 14:34

I also love both, but I wouldn't go with a 'wives of Prince Charles' theme for may daughters. My preference is Diana. I think it sounds more elegant, and I'm not a big fan of Milly and I have not interest in policing my children's nicknames.

Electrox · 15/04/2022 14:41

Diana

BiBabbles · 15/04/2022 14:41

I lean towards Camilla, but not really that fond of either. I just dislike the anglicised pronunciation of Diana a lot.

I can't see how they're perfectly matched for sisters for all the reasons others said. There are a lot of other names more associated with European royal traditions like Alexandra.

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 15/04/2022 14:45

Camilla is a great name. Totally biased as I know a brilliant teenager of the same name.

LetitiaLeghorn · 15/04/2022 14:50

Camilla. It always makes me think of Camille, Lady of the Camellias. I loved that book when I was young.
Diana is just dated at the moment but because of its Greek ancestory it will come back in fashion.

RuthW · 15/04/2022 17:58

Like both.

Probably Camilla as I like Cam.

Then again I like Annie for Diana.

Andacherryonthetop · 15/04/2022 18:07

Definitely not a sibset.

I think you would need to consider nicknames because even if you didn’t want their names to be shortened, sometimes you just can’t stop it happening.
Do you like - cam, cammie, Millie, di, Annie etc
I think I would go for camilla out of the 2 if it were me

CPL593H · 15/04/2022 18:11

Either lovely, please not both for sisters! Grin

Roselilly36 · 15/04/2022 18:29

This can’t be a genuine question, who would dream of putting those names together given the history?

MinoucheSapphic · 15/04/2022 19:24

I think they're fine individually but it would seem strange and inappropriate to use them for sisters, given the history. Surely there are other names you like?

thewhatsit · 15/04/2022 19:30

Camilla for me.

My DM has no end of friends called Diana and Diane so it seems such a 50s/60s name to me. I’ve known one or two Camillas and they are of differing ages so seems less attached to any particular generation.

Xenaaa · 15/04/2022 20:16

I think I knew deep down they could never be sisters…I just happen to like the names individually. It’s just a shame once I pick one… I’m going to have to say goodbye to the other name as a potential sister.

And I definitely couldn’t even use it as a middle name! Eg Camilla Diana ….
