What is the sound at the end?
I've seen it written Anoosha before, but that might have different heritage and so not be the sound you are after.

I like it with an "ah" sound at the end. Less so with a "eh"

The man who was released from Iran with Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is called Anoosheh

I didn't realise it was a unisex name, but it's nice. I would find it very odd on someone without Middle Eastern heritage though.

I agree, and would probably just get shortened to Ann.

We are of Pakistani heritage, Persian names are very commonly used in our culture. I didn’t realise it was a unisex name!

Like the PP, I thought of the British-Iranian man named Anoosheh who was recently in the news.
I think it's fine, but you would probably have to get used to people not pronouncing the -eh ending correctly. I'm not certain how to pronounce it myself.

Sounds like a sneeze ........................

Marvellousmadness · 07/04/2022 11:15

Meh

WhenPushComesToShove · 07/04/2022 11:42

Bless you; I thought you sneezed!

I know an Anusia, pronounced the same but her name/background is Polish. She's lovely and I like the name.

I like the sound but I don't like the way you've spelt it. I would go with pp and spell it Anousha.

Bangendedscoots · 07/04/2022 12:11

I like the sound of it but I'm not keen on the way it looks written down if I'm honest

I'm surprised by the harsher comments by pp as I think it sounds quite nice, and it sounds similar to Anoushka which is more commonly known so its not like its a completely unheard of sound.

nearlyspringyay · 07/04/2022 12:22

looks like too many letters the way you have spelt it. Anousha is nice.

FinnRussell · 07/04/2022 12:28

Ditto others. The sound is quite pretty, that spelling looks awkward.

Smartiepants79 · 07/04/2022 12:42

Agree, it’s quite nice sounding but I don’t like that spelling.

FelicityPike · 07/04/2022 12:47

I would also change the spelling, sorry.

Pamlar · 10/04/2022 00:08

I had a colleague called Anousha. She was lovely. People often misread it as Anoushka.
I think it's nice. I don't like your spelling. Sorry

TakeMe2Insanity · 10/04/2022 06:13

Anoush is lovely and shorter.

RedRobin100 · 10/04/2022 06:24

@Gowithme

I like the sound but I don't like the way you've spelt it. I would go with pp and spell it Anousha.
Same
backlord · 10/04/2022 06:48

Have to agree on the spelling. I don't think 'oo' with a long sound looks good in English, probably because it evokes unpleasant things like poo and achoo and snooze and moo.

What do you think of making it Anousha or Anousheh?

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 10/04/2022 07:17

I prefer the spelling Anousha.

Tbh the first thing that popped into my head when I read your OP was the song Babooshka!

familyissues12345 · 10/04/2022 10:10

I really like the sound, not so keen on the spelling. However, she's your baby!

ASimpleLobsterHat · 10/04/2022 10:13

I know an Anousheh - goes by Noush. I’ve always liked the name.

LaingsAcidTab · 10/04/2022 11:21

I like it!

DogsAndGin · 11/04/2022 12:18

Love it
