What do you think of Kay?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
yikesanotherbooboo · 01/04/2022 13:29

Girl or boy?

Theoldwoman · 01/04/2022 13:30

Not much, sorry.

Love Kate though!

emmathedilemma · 01/04/2022 13:37

Very dated and not in a trendy way! It’s normally a nn, typically for Kathleen based on the ones I’ve known.

demoness · 01/04/2022 13:48

'Kay.

I think it's better as a nickname than a legal name.

PeskyRooks · 01/04/2022 13:52

Well I like it. It is simple sweet and fresh.

spearmynt · 01/04/2022 14:03

I like it as a nickname or middle name

FayCarew · 01/04/2022 15:38

I know one. She's just called Kay
She gets called Kate a lot, and people ask if she's called Katherine or Kathleen

I like it and also like Dee

LesLavandes · 01/04/2022 15:44

Boring name

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 01/04/2022 18:03

I actually really like it

CremeEggThief · 01/04/2022 18:05

I think it's ok as a nickname, in common with a lot of previous posters, or as a middle name.

muddyford · 01/04/2022 18:06

Fresh and unusual these days. I have known several and none were short for something else.

Fl0w3ry · 01/04/2022 19:08

It feels too short and a bit boring.

sageandbasil · 01/04/2022 21:04

Really don't like it. Every Kay I've known in real life has been awful as well

AHungryCaterpillar · 01/04/2022 21:05

Bit boring

chesirecat99 · 01/04/2022 21:16

If you see Kay
Tell him he may
See you in tea
Tell him from me

ArtVandalay · 01/04/2022 21:18

I hate it, sorry. Really naff.

dontblamemee · 01/04/2022 21:22

Hideous

fleapriest · 01/04/2022 21:24

It's my middle name and I hate it

heidihigh · 01/04/2022 21:49

Like it but the only Kay I know is short for Michaela and I much prefer that

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/04/2022 22:36

Very boring.

Make it short for Katharine if you must.

Jemimapuddleduk · 01/04/2022 22:40

Really sorry but I don’t like it, sounds like decay

mrsfollowill · 01/04/2022 22:45

Oh I like this! a unusual at the moment -bit 1950ish- could be the next 'Elsie' or Ethel' but fresh sounding - and easy to spell!

JanglyBeads · 01/04/2022 22:49

It was at its peak in the 1950s and 60s and derives from Katherine originally. Can't be shortened which is a bonus.

Famous - in its boy version - from The Snow Queen and The Box of Delights.

MerylSqueak · 01/04/2022 22:56

I'm surprised by the reactions here. I like it. I've only ever know one Kay and it's stood out to me as a great name - a bit like Kit for a boy - that works very well with a long surname.

Powerplant · 01/04/2022 23:03

I too am surprised by the reactions I think it’s a lovely name boy or girl😊
