Please help - after being set on one name for 8 months, we’re now dithering. Is it baby name fatigue? Who knows! But we need to decide in about two weeks!

Katherine
Annabel
Sophie

I know people don’t think you can dictate a nickname, but we’d be calling her Kate or Annie day to day.

Any opinions? Or thoughts on a name in the similar style?

Katherine stands out.

Sophie is nice but there are so many Sophias.
Annabel is nice but there are lots of Isabel(le)s and Isabellas and Anna and other vowely names

I really like Annie and Katie

Smurftastic · 31/03/2022 19:12

Love Katherine, it's the least common in babies.
Nothing wrong with the other two though!

delshell · 31/03/2022 19:28

I adore the name Kate so Katherine would get my vote! Also love Sophie, but it is very popular, along with Sophia. Less keen on Annabel, but it's still nice and I like Annie too.

ISmellBurnings · 31/03/2022 19:32

Sophie is soooo common, Katherine is unusual these days and I love Kate. Don’t mind Annabel, although I like Bel as a nn.

KirstenBlest · 31/03/2022 19:33

I like Kate too. may have named a DD it

I also have started to really like Catherine nn Cathy.
Katie could be Kate when she's older

We have a Ddog called Annie, so obviously I like that too

Guineapiggiesmalls · 31/03/2022 20:00

Thank you all! I was thinking along the same lines (how popular Sophie is etc), think Katherine is probably the one for us!

I really like Sophie but Katherine is quite unusual now. I know a 9 year old one who is known as Katy but that's it

Hummingbirdcake · 31/03/2022 20:07

Sophie.

KylieCharlene · 31/03/2022 20:13

Annabel nn Annie
Personally I'd be spelling it Annabelle but that's just because I love the nn Belle.
I also love Anna as day to day for Annabel.

cptartapp · 31/03/2022 20:15

I love Catherine with a C. It seems softer. And you could use Cate.

CadieSara · 31/03/2022 20:20

Katherine is my favourite.

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/03/2022 21:07

Katharine nn Kate is Great.

Much more stand out than Annie/Annabel than Sophie these days.

Frances, Celia, Julia, Lois, Verity, Christabel, Felicity might be others

JessyCarr · 31/03/2022 22:19

Katherine/Kate is really lovely.

charliechops85 · 31/03/2022 22:24

Katherine is beautiful 😍

Mumofgirls2017 · 31/03/2022 22:27

I like Annabel best!

TempsPerdu · 01/04/2022 10:46

Katherine stands out as being as being the most ‘special sounding’ of those at the moment. It’s elegant, strong and genuinely classic, and would definitely be my pick (albeit with the nn Kit rather than Kate).

All lovely names.

I have a Kate who is 20 now and loves her name. She's glad she's not a Katharine!

Annabel is lovely, I prefer Sophia over Sophie.
