Which do you prefer and why?

(I just love Daisy as a middle name, I think it's so fresh and lovely sounding, but feel it's a bit cute for a first name)

I prefer Maria Daisy only because Marianna seems to 'big' a name to sit well with Daisy

Flowerbedflora · 28/03/2022 14:42

I prefer Marianna as I think the syllables flow better.

KirstenBlest · 28/03/2022 14:44

Maria. Marianna it too fussy

CremeEggThief · 28/03/2022 14:44

I actually think Daisy Maria sounds the prettiest and flows the best.

SallyWD · 28/03/2022 14:56

Maria. Marianna is nice but one of those fussy, frilly names. Maria is much nicer.

greenteafiend · 28/03/2022 15:06

Maria is a lovely name.

Marianna is too fussy and sounds too much like marijuana for me. Also, depressing associations (Mariana Trench, Mariana of the moated grange etc. It also makes me think of that Habsburg princess who was forced to marry her own uncle, ick).

Happenchance · 28/03/2022 15:07

Marianna Daisy. You could always use Maria as a nickname.

I like the sound of Maria but for some reason it makes me think of the word diarrhea.

Nosetickle · 28/03/2022 15:08

Marianna Daisy. Also as pp said Daisy Maria flows really well.

DoorLion · 28/03/2022 15:13

I like them both. Prefer Mariana spelt like that myself, but fine the other eay.

averythinline · 28/03/2022 15:27

Mariana 1st....although also like Marguerite...which means daisy!

Although sound wise like Daisy 1st

emmathedilemma · 28/03/2022 15:30

Maria
Marianna is too frilly for me. Also, is it Marry-Anna or Marry-Arna??

Pandypuff · 28/03/2022 15:35

I want the Marry-Anna pronunciation, which is why I spelled it 'Marianna' in the OP, but i would actually use the 'Mariana' spelling (I saw on another thread about this name that a lot of people assumed 'Mariana' would be pronounced Marry-Arna, which is why I thought it would be less confusing to just spell it Marianna in my post Smile

@Pandypuff

It will get said as Marry- Ah-nuh regardless of the double n. How about Mariella or Marina instead?
Cluelessmouse · 28/03/2022 15:55

Daisy Maria flows best

Pandypuff · 28/03/2022 15:59

Actually, we live abroad so it will get said how we want it said here Grin

Daisythedieselrailcar · 28/03/2022 15:59

Maria. Marianna is a bit fussy. Daisy works fine with Maria.

Pandypuff · 28/03/2022 15:59

And I love Daisy but wouldn't use it as a first name

OP posts:
ButterRose · 28/03/2022 16:01

Marien is another option

WeasilyPleased · 28/03/2022 23:52

Actually I prefer Marianne Daisy to both of them. It flows better.

DramaAlpaca · 28/03/2022 23:57

I'd pronounce Marianna/Mariana the same, just like OP does.

As has just been suggested I like Marianne Daisy best, but I'd choose Marianna/Mariana over Maria. As for why, it sounds younger, fresher and less possibly religious than Maria.

saraclara · 29/03/2022 00:03

I honestly would just prioritise the name you want to actually call her all day every day for the rest of her life! How it flows with a middle name is only what you think about when you're choosing the name. No-one has used my middle names or my kids middle names since the first few weeks of my/their lives (unless teasingly!).

It honestly doesn't matter. It's her first name that's important. The rest is fluff, or for when you fill in forms, however important it seems now!

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/03/2022 03:01

I don’t like Maria so Marianna - although prefer Marianne

I don’t think Daisy flows with either really, but middle names are rarely used so it doesn’t matter

TheLadyDIdGood · 29/03/2022 03:19

How about Marina instead of Marianne?

Pandypuff · 29/03/2022 05:06

I love Marina but actually like the religious element of Maria and Marianna and Marina doesn't have that
