Hi, I have some many girls names I like but I'm struggling with boys names. At the moment I'm picking it myself as the father is having issue so I'm not sure if he will be around. I love the names Noah and Mateo...What do people think of the name Mateo? The baby will also be having my last name. Anyone done this? xx

If you are unsure if the father is going to stick around then you are well within your rights to give your child your last name personally my parents divorced when I was very young and my mum kept her married last name only so she would have the same name as her children for school and appointments etc it made everything much easier for all involved

As for the name Mateo it's nice but in my opinion I prefer Noah ultimately it's up to you :) good luck

Strangely DD(3) was talking about Mateo from Paddington this morning whilst we went round the supermarket and it made me think what a lovely name it is.

Noah is nice enough, but seems a bit done to death if that bothers you?

Loads of children have their mothers surname, I don't think it would make them stand out at all
