I do, it was on my shortlist. However the conflicting opinions on spellings and pronunciation of it put me off

VirginiaQ · 20/03/2022 15:21

Love it! With that spelling too. Shame I never had a girl.

Nosetickle · 20/03/2022 15:22

I like the name but find accents on letters in names such a faff.

TrooBloo · 20/03/2022 15:28

Yes, but very common in the last 5-10 years.

toastofthetown · 20/03/2022 15:30

Not a huge fan. It’s inoffensive but overdone.

MushroomCow99 · 20/03/2022 15:31

Not a fan. Way over done the past ten years.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/03/2022 15:32

Depends on how it's pronounced.
Ez-mee (dispise)
Ez-may (adore)

DoucheCanoe · 20/03/2022 15:33

I don't really have an opinion on it tbh, it's too frilly for me but there's nothing wrong with it.

Oddly I know 5 under 5 in our area and all the parents seem to think it's unusual Confused

AHungryCaterpillar · 20/03/2022 15:34

Nice but getting quite common now

Lilaclavenders · 20/03/2022 15:46

I hate the way most English pronounce it!

It's Es-meh

There's NO ay sound!!

Lilaclavenders · 20/03/2022 15:46

And there no ee sound either...!

Randomdogbite · 20/03/2022 15:53

I have a friend called Esme, she doesn’t even know/mind how it’s pronounced now and never corrects anyone. In our friendship group we all say it differently. Her mum says Esmay so I go with this but siblings Esmeeee.

PukkaP · 20/03/2022 15:54

I like it

Brunosaiditlookslikerain · 20/03/2022 15:57

I have loved it ever since reading Terry Pratchett books where one of the main characters is called Esme.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/03/2022 15:58

Accents are a PITA (speaking as someone who has to fill in forms on computers).

But Esme is lovely.

Joyfulflowers · 20/03/2022 16:00

Love the name Esme-I know someone with that name and she is one the nicest people I know

Moonface123 · 20/03/2022 16:01

Its a very pretty name, l love it.

Roselilly36 · 20/03/2022 16:02

I love it, I also love Elsie.

Lilaclavenders · 20/03/2022 16:15

I have a friend called Esme, she doesn’t even know/mind how it’s pronounced

That's because it's a French name and the pronunciation is difficult/impossible for English speakers.

IglesiasPiggl · 20/03/2022 16:19

I think it's a lovely name, especially with Ines as a middle name.

ISmellBurnings · 20/03/2022 19:07

No I don’t like it personally. It’s also really popular.

Amlaughingsomuchnot · 20/03/2022 19:11

Yes. My mid 20s daughter is called Esme. Very unusual when she was growing up.She loves her name as well. Pronounced Esmee cannot stand Esmay but each to their own.

Kitkat151 · 20/03/2022 19:13

It’s fine...but not with an accent

polkaqueen · 20/03/2022 19:51

My partners daughter is called Esma, I think it's the most beautiful name and much nicer than Esmé. He is Turkish.
