Has to be Celia if a girl -- the name of Dorothea's sister in Middlemarch.

1stTimeMama · 11/03/2022 15:05

Atticus is one of my all time favourite boys names ever. My husband vetoed it every single time and I still wish I could've used it!
Dorothea and Atticus, what a stunning combination!

Love Dorothea!

How about Clara and Quentin?

ElmtreeMama · 11/03/2022 18:34

Thank you all

I love some of these!!

Is Theodore not too similar?

I love Dorothea. I think Atticus and Tabitha are both lovely and go really well with Dorothea.

Lilaclavenders · 11/03/2022 20:47

I think Theodore was a joke Grin

I like Atticus, Quentin and Tobias.

Philandbill · 11/03/2022 21:21

Dorothea is a beautiful name. Do you use her full name or do you shorten it to Dotty or Thea or Dora or another nickname? That could have a bearing on the name you choose? My suggestions are Clementine and Sebastian.

I was going to suggest Tabitha. Grin

I would love Dorothea and Theodora 🤩

ElmtreeMama · 13/03/2022 01:57

Seriously so many beautiful name suggestions and definitely some contenders!

She is usually Dorrie or Dottie, though I personally call her Dorothea :)

DPotter · 13/03/2022 02:13

Casaubon for a boy of course!

DramaAlpaca · 13/03/2022 02:30

How funny, I was going to suggest Tabitha before I opened the thread!

I don't like the name at all myself, but it goes very nicely with Dorothea.

Not sure if it's been suggested already, but Cecily would go well too.

Yes to Atticus for a boy.

Philandbill · 13/03/2022 08:12

Intrigued to know if you are a Middlemarch fan OP? I loved the passage in that about Dorothea "But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs."

ElmtreeMama · 13/03/2022 11:26

@Philandbill

I'm not, but that passage is lovely! I'm going to write it out for her now

I also really like Emmeline and Clementine

Lemonweightloss · 13/03/2022 11:59

I love Clementine.
Evangeline, too.

KayEmAy · 17/03/2022 22:29

The first thing that popped into my head was, Dorothea and Felicity.
