Arthur but it doesn't really go with our sons name which is Dexter.

The middle name will be Nicholas any ideas would be really helpful

Thank you

Their names don't need to 'go'. They're individuals.

I think they're fine together anyway.

What about Archie?

Kay00 · 11/03/2022 09:53

How about Authur shortened to Art? I think that would go well with Dexter.

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 10:03

Arthur and Dexter are fine together.

I think the names sound lovely together

Luckingfovely · 11/03/2022 10:08

The names are fine together, you are way overthinking this (easily done at this time!).

JemimaTiggywinkle · 11/03/2022 10:10

I think they sound fine together. I know they rhyme slightly but they’re not too matchy if that’s your concern?

Just that really! Agree

Dexter and Arthur sound great. Go for it.

Lemonweightloss · 11/03/2022 12:04

I agree. They sound great together.

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/03/2022 15:21

It's nice.

It doesn't NOT go..

DumplinsInTheStewDarlin · 11/03/2022 15:25

My siblings and I have names that don't go together (think Emma, Natalia, Pauline) but they do go together because we go together. I say if you love the name go for it. In fact better go for a name you want than try to fit some naming ideal children aren't commercial products.

Rainbowbaby13 · 11/03/2022 16:29

I'm sure you're all right I'm just over thinking it it's hard enough finding a name you live without putting other obstacles in the way

My opinion is that Arthur is far too popular and Dexter not so much

What about hector, I know it's a tad rhymey but not hugely so. I know an adorable little boy called hector.

Reuben with Dexter?
Huxley with Dexter?

LilacSloth · 11/03/2022 17:21

Nicholas is lovely. Could be Nicholas Arthur? Dexter and Nico sound really nice together.

They go together

user1477391263 · 16/03/2022 03:22

They're fine. I don't really understand the idea that names have to match perfectly in terms of modernness or popularity or whatever. I mean "Ariadne and Brandee-Jayde" or something might be a bit odd. But Arthur and Dexter are fine.

Perfectly put by girlmom21. Smile

I love the names Dexter and Arthur. If you do, then go for it, but obviously no harm in exploring other name suggestions. If he isn't here yet, then you may change your mind when you meet him anyway!

I can think of some people I know that have multiple children, I don't wish to list their names, but their first child's name is very traditional, their second child more modern and their third I had never heard before, so I wouldn't have said they particular 'go' together, but I had never looked at it that way before, until trying to think of children's names right now.

Hugo, Logan, Hunter, Harrison, Carter and Cody are what I would say were more modern names that aren't hugely popular but also lovely.

Whatever name you choose, I'm sure it will be perfect for them.

Do you mean that you already have a son called Dexter and are considering calling the new baby Arthur? That is how I read it, although your post is a little unclear.

It's fine. Why do the names of siblings have to "go" together? They don't. They are different people and are individuals in their own right.

Arthur Nicholas sounds great.
