deciding on a middle name

me and my husband are expecting a baby boy (due in may) and we have pretty much decided on the first name Apollo, it means a lot to us and we believe it is a cool name that can carry a person through life. what we’re having troubles on deciding is the middle name. we have some we like (Apollo Finn, Apollo Wells and Apollo Flynn are some) but we really aren’t sure and would love to here some ideas and opinions! any opinions on the first name are welcome as well!

I don’t mind Apollo but think those middle names are slightly filler like the endless Grace/May/Rose girls middle names. Apollo needs more weight really. Have you a family name you might like to use?

desmarie · 09/03/2022 23:52

it’s kind of difficult because a lot of the family names we might like to use are quite feminine so i’m not sure. Wells is my maiden name but i agree it does sound quite filler. other family names are Apollo Robin and Apollo Theodore which we aren’t sure of either

I think Apollo Wells sounds really good. I don't see how Wells could be a considered a 'filler' middle name in the same way as something very popular like James for example.

Apollo Felix
Apollo Caspar
Apollo Julian
Apollo Xander
Apollo Torin
Apollo David
Apollo Marius

Apollo is the name of a theatre

WildCherryBlossom · 10/03/2022 05:41

Haha Auntwacky, the theatres were named after the Greek God of, like, literally everything. (As was the US Space programme etc etc).

OP I like Apollo Theodore a lot. Robin is lovely but a bit gentle after Apollo. I think it needs a middle name with some strength.

Of Finn and Flynn I think I slightly prefer Flynn with Apollo. Not sure why.

PiperPosey · 10/03/2022 05:45

@Zillamop

I think Apollo Wells sounds really good. I don't see how Wells could be a considered a 'filler' middle name in the same way as something very popular like James for example.
I love it! Apollo Wells... very strong and masculine strength. Would look great on a resume' or business card!
FayCarew · 10/03/2022 09:47

How about Mission?

inmyslippers · 10/03/2022 09:50

I love it but I'm a huge Greek mythology fan. I'd probably go for something very vanilla in case they don't want to go by Apollo

WildCherryBlossom · 10/03/2022 11:38

I agree inmyslippers, I would probably go with a more traditional middle name to give the boy the option. I quite like Apollo Alexander but maybe AA is a bad idea. Maybe Apollo Wells Alexander or something like that...?

Mumofgirls2017 · 10/03/2022 14:18

Love Apollo and Apollo Flynn

Apollo Quinn
Apollo River
Apollo James
Apollo George
Apollo Isaac
Apollo Jacob
Apollo Felix
Apollo Daniel
Apollo Henry
Apollo Kai
Apollo Fletcher
Apollo Rex
Apollo Maxwell
Apollo Jasper
Apollo Caspian

MissCarolina · 10/03/2022 15:03

I quite like Apollo Flynn and Apollo Theodore.

Luckingfovely · 10/03/2022 15:05

I also love the name, and think you need a longer, slightly more traditional name to balance it.

Alexander I think is brilliant with it. I don't see why AA would be a problem?

user1493494961 · 10/03/2022 15:23

I'd choose something classic like James, in case he doesn't like his 'cool' name.

melonhead · 10/03/2022 15:39

Apollo is great! But Apollo Theodore sounds like Apollo Theatre with an American accent.

How about Apollo William?

ladycarlotta · 10/03/2022 15:49

@AuntTwacky

Apollo is the name of a theatre
crikey yes, never been used for anything else before or since
Calandor · 10/03/2022 17:16

Apollo Wells is nice. The others are way too modern to go with an ancient name.

Try something with more weight. Apollo Augustus. Apollo Julian. Apollo James. Apollo Anthony. Etc.

Calandor · 10/03/2022 17:16

@AuntTwacky

Apollo is the name of a theatre
No Apollo is the name of a God.
FindingMeno · 10/03/2022 17:18

Apologies Wells is great.
That's one hell of an original name without being " made up"

FindingMeno · 10/03/2022 17:19

Apologies was obviously autocorrect Shock

Lilaclavenders · 10/03/2022 17:21

Apollo is the name of a theatre

The theatre chose a great nameSmile

I love Apollo and like the suggestions of Apollo Finn or Apollo Quinn. A short one syllable name works best imo

TheOriginalEmu · 10/03/2022 17:21

I think Wells is great!

Dreamingof3 · 10/03/2022 18:26

I'd go with Wells purely because because it has a personal connection (it sounds good too!)
Personally I don't see the point of putting in a middle name for the sake of it

spurs4ever · 10/03/2022 18:30

First thought was Creed which shows my age 🙈

Snowbell99 · 10/03/2022 18:30

The name Apollo is kind of cool but I can't get over the fact that the Apollo from mythology killed Niobe's children which is just terrible. I personally wouldn't want that association.

I like Apollo Finn.

Apollo Finlay
Apollo Emmett
Apollo Thomas
Apollo Edward
Apollo Edmund
Apollo Dylan
Apollo Henry
